Hospitals in the West is an administration within the Västra Götaland Region and consists of four hospitals: Alingsås Hospital, Angered Local Hospital, Högsbo Local Hospital, and Kungälv Hospital. Approximately 3,000 employees work every day to provide high-quality, safe, and specialized healthcare.
Department 7 is one of three medical departments, each with 24 beds, specializing in heart and lung care. Three years ago, we moved into one of Sweden's most modern hospital ward buildings. The work has changed as every patient is now cared for in a single room, and the department is equipped with the latest technology in the field.
Since 2022, Department 7 has provided advanced HIA (High-Intensity Care) services. On these seven beds, we care for severely ill heart patients who were previously treated in the ICU. Consequently, the work on the department has become more specialized and varied. We are now looking for a new colleague who wants to join us in further developing heart care. With us, you will have great opportunities to encounter many different and interesting medical diagnoses across our three departments.
Tasks and Working Methods
From autumn, Department 7 will be a ward with 28 beds, of which 7 are HIA beds. The work is led by two unit managers in a shared leadership model. The work on the department is knowledge-intensive, developmental, and exciting, and we provide advanced medical care. We work in a team-based manner with person-centered care, collaborating with assistant nurses, registered nurses, paramedics, and doctors to make the best use of each other's competencies. We are seeking registered nurses for day and evening shifts.
About You
We are looking for someone who enjoys collaborating with others and wants to be part of our wonderful team where we drive the operation forward together, work on improvement projects, and develop our department and working methods with the patients in focus.
Qualifications
You must be a licensed registered nurse. Experience in medicine or cardiology/HIA is an asset.
It is important to us that you are driven to help develop care with the patient at the center, as well as actively sharing your knowledge with colleagues and being equally curious to learn from their expertise.
The length of the introduction and preceptorship is assessed based on your individual competence to ensure you get the best possible start. Additionally, specific training and introduction are provided before starting work on the HIA unit.

Clinical Base Year
For newly graduated registered nurses/radiography nurses, a Clinical Base Year is included during the first year of your permanent employment. The Clinical Base Year includes lectures, process-oriented nursing guidance, and practical training of your profession at the Simulator Center. It also includes shadowing in other departments to give you a broader understanding of the hospital where you work. This is an initiative designed to give you the opportunity to further develop your profession and build your professional identity.
