Are you engaged and curious and looking for a developing job as a system designer in a company striving for a more sustainable world? Then this job might be for you! Location: Oxelösund.
Becoming part of the SSAB family means joining us on a journey. A journey that we believe is crucial for the future and sustainability of our planet. Steel has been one of the most important materials for our societal development and will continue to be so in the future. In our homes, in bridges that connect our cities, and in tomorrow's cars. At SSAB, we are proud of our history and our leadership in high-strength steel. At the same time, we are aware that steel production is one of the industries that emits the most greenhouse gases in the world. This must change. Therefore, we have developed the world's first fossil-free process for steel production and are committed to becoming largely fossil-free. As part of SSAB, you will play an important role in realizing this goal and thus contribute to a green transition of the entire steel industry.
You will work with colleagues on system design, both with new construction and modification/updating of existing systems, problem-solving, facility development, documentation, and commissioning of new machines in our facilities. You will primarily participate in two different workflows in the form of projects and work order flow.
Collaboration with production sections/departments is important, and your most common points of contact will consist of maintenance technicians, operations technicians, and external suppliers, internal staff, and contractors.
You will belong to the Technical Systems section in the Plate Technology department. The group consists of about 19 system designers working towards the Rolling Mill's facilities. We work in area groups where mechanical, electrical, and system designers collaborate towards three different production departments.
We offer you developing and stimulating days where you, alone or together with other designers, are responsible for system design and automation of machines and facilities within the Rolling Mill. With us, you will have the opportunity to get close to reality and follow projects from idea to commissioning.
Selection and interviews are ongoing, and the position may be filled before the application deadline.
Your main responsibilities
- Drive development and maintenance of automation systems in existing and new facilities.
- Program PLC control systems such as Siemens SIMATIC S7 and also be trained in our proprietary control system ProveiwR.
- Project planning, development, and construction as well as documentation of control systems for machines in our facilities.
- Conduct risk assessments and orders related to work orders/projects.
- Assist in the development of facilities and work methods.
- Commissioning of machines and facilities.
- Assist operations/maintenance with technical support and assistance.
- Conduct tests and validations on system designs.
About you
- You have at least a 2-year university degree as an Automation Engineer or a vocational education or Mechanical Engineering education with a focus on automation technology or equivalent experience.
- We value work experience such as automation designer and drive systems. We consider it a strong merit if you have experience from the manufacturing or process industry.
- Experience in programming PLC and industrial safety control systems such as PLUTO as well as experience in C/C++ is meritorious.
- You enjoy technical challenges, have the ability to quickly understand complex problems, and are solution-oriented in your work.
- You plan and organize your own work, are driven, and have the ability to make your own decisions.
- Good collaboration skills are important, and you have an open approach, are receptive, and adapt solutions to needs that arise.
- You speak fluent Swedish and English and have a good ability to express yourself in speech and writing.
