Medical Physics and Technology (MFT) Mälarsjukhuset, Eskilstuna
Medical Physics and Technology (MFT), Eskilstuna or Nyköping
Do you want to work closely with healthcare operations and contribute to developing and ensuring the functionality of Region Sörmland's medical technology information systems? We are looking for a biomedical engineer/system administrator focused on MIS (medical technology information systems), who also wants to help build the future digital support within medical technology.
The role initially focuses on clinical physics-related systems such as ECG, exercise tests, spirometry, ultrasound, and EEG, but will eventually encompass more medical technology system areas, depending on the needs of the operations and your professional development. The position is primarily located at Mälarsjukhuset in Eskilstuna, but placement in Nyköping may be possible. Please indicate your preferred location in your application.
About us
MFT supports healthcare operations by ensuring that medical technology systems, equipment, and data management function safely, securely, and efficiently. We are about 50 employees distributed across Mälarsjukhuset in Eskilstuna, Nyköpings lasarett, and Kullbergska sjukhuset in Katrineholm.
With us, you will find a workplace where technology and healthcare meet, and where you as a biomedical engineer/system administrator have a great opportunity to influence, develop, and shape both system administration and digital working methods together with the operations. We value engagement, collaboration, and accountability. We strive to create a workplace where everyone thrives, respects each other, and is involved in the development of the operations.
Your tasks
As a biomedical engineer/system administrator within MIS, you are responsible for ensuring that the systems function stably, securely, and user-friendly for the needs of the clinics. You work closely with both clinical operations and the Region's IT department to ensure that the systems are correctly configured, integrated, and adapted to the needs of healthcare. The work involves, among other things, management, development, and coordination.
Examples of tasks:
- Responsible for the operation, functionality, and management of medical technology information systems within clinical physics and other MT areas.
- Drive development, optimization, and improvements of systems and contribute to projects when implementing new solutions.
- Ensure correct, safe, and efficient handling of medical technology data and robust integrations between MT equipment and IT environments.
- Collaborate closely with the Region's IT department regarding operations, requirements, infrastructure, and technical solutions.
- Educate and support users and contribute to routines, documentation, and regulatory compliance within system administration.
Your qualifications
We are looking for someone who is a university or engineering graduate, systems scientist, or has another technical education relevant to the role. Preferably, you have experience from medical technology, healthcare environments, or technical system administration. You have good knowledge of Swedish and technical English.
We also place great importance on your personal qualities. We would like you to have:
- A professional and respectful collaboration with colleagues and other professions, contributing to a safe and positive work environment and explaining technology and systems in a pedagogical way to end-users.
- Experience with medical technology information systems or related IT technology.
- Basic knowledge of networks, databases, or integrations (e.g., HL7 or DICOM).
- Interest in operationally close technical work where dialogue with healthcare personnel is a natural part.
- The ability to work systematically, take responsibility, and drive tasks independently.
- Attention to detail and focus on operational reliability, patient safety, and documentation.
- Stability and calm under pressure, e.g., during system disturbances.
A driver's license is required as travel between hospitals occurs.
