About the workplace

Ersta diakoni operates two sheltered accommodations in different locations, with different target groups – but with a common goal: to provide support, safety, and an opportunity for women and children who have experienced violence to start a life free from violence. Our work is always based on our core value seeing the person, and our values: professionalism, trust, and hope.

Ersta Möjlighet is a sheltered accommodation for women who have experienced violence and are also dealing with dependency issues.

Ersta Fristad is a sheltered accommodation for women who have experienced violence, with or without accompanying children.

Both accommodations offer a safe and secure environment with high safety standards – including a secret address and alarm functions. Placements are always made at the request of and in close collaboration with social services, and each assignment is tailored to the individual needs of the woman and children. We operate in Stockholm County.

With us, you will be part of a competent and dedicated team with various professional categories, such as social workers, treatment assistants, and social pedagogues, led by a social worker with group leadership responsibility. Together, we create a safe and respectful environment where every woman and child has the opportunity to grow and find new paths forward.

About the role

As a part-time employee, you are an important part of a team that works closely with the woman and children and their social services. Together, you support her and the children based on their individual needs and circumstances. You provide social therapeutic support, for example, in contact with authorities, healthcare, and other actors. The goal is always to enable sustainable and realistic future planning for each woman.

We work in an environmentally therapeutic way and use everyday situations and environments as the basis for change work. A meaningful stay is central to us, and you actively participate in – and encourage – leisure activities. The role also includes practical tasks such as kitchen and cleaning duties as well as handling supplies.

As a part-time employee, you will among other things:

  • Be available for the residents – offer conversations, support during crisis reactions, and be a safe presence

  • Handle emergency placements during ongoing shifts

  • Participate in reporting and be responsible for passing important information to colleagues

  • Support women with practical assistance such as applying for financial support, applying for confidentiality marking, etc.

  • Conduct safety planning both at the beginning of a placement and continuously based on needs.

  • Work from a holistic perspective focusing on empowerment, low-affect responses, and motivational interviewing (MI).

We are a 24/7 operation, and therefore it is desirable that you as a part-time employee have the opportunity to work both day, evening, on-call, and awake night shifts.

Who are you?

We are looking for someone who is structured, secure, and flexible, and who enjoys taking responsibility. You are solution-focused and self-driven, but equally attentive to the needs of others. In meetings with women in vulnerable situations, you maintain calm and show both warmth and patience.

You have the ability to set clear boundaries and follow the routines and policies that create safety in the operation. You perform both practical and theoretical tasks with commitment and an empathetic approach. As a person, you are a good role model and share our core value of seeing the whole person – and our values: professionalism, trust, and hope.

Your experience

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is trained as a treatment assistant, social pedagogue, social work student, or has an equivalent education

  • Has good knowledge of Swedish in both spoken and written form

It is an advantage if you have experience working with women who have experienced violence in some form or if you have worked in a sheltered accommodation. Additional language skills are also an advantage.

Due to the nature of the work, we do not accept male applicants.

Warm welcome with your application!
