I am a 70-year-old man who, after an accident 14 years ago, is in a wheelchair and needs help with most daily activities, from toilet visits to cleaning and cooking.
I live alone in a cozy apartment with a lovely view of the city and the river. I have my assistants around me 24/7, divided into three shifts: morning shift from 08:00 to 16:00, evening shift from 15:30 to 23:00, and night shift from 22:30 to 09:30. The night shifts are active awake nights without on-call duty, meaning you work actively to take care of me.
Due to my spinal cord injury, I experience constant pain, but despite this and other circumstances, I am usually positive and in good spirits.
I value honesty and a strong work ethic, and since I often need help with writing, it is important that you are proficient in the Swedish language in both speech and writing.
I am now looking for a new assistant for my assistant group, a position at 80% with day and evening shifts and every other weekend.
I would also appreciate if you are open to working occasional night shifts and double shifts if the need arises in the group.
The position starts as a temporary employment with training to help you learn the job and then transitions to a fixed-term employment as long as the assistance assignment continues at an 80% working rate, if we get along well. We have a rolling schedule.
Experience in healthcare is not strictly necessary, but it is desirable that you have some insight into what the job entails and, above all, that you have a genuine interest in it.
Please include a personal letter with some information about yourself and your previous experiences, and why you are applying for the job.
Right now, many are applying for jobs, so I value an application that is personally addressed to me and the current position. It helps me a lot in the selection process.
GIL has coordinated personal assistance since 1989. For us, personal assistance is about creating conditions for a person with disabilities to live the life they want to live. In many assignments, the person receiving assistance is their own supervisor, while others have appointed a deputy supervisor. Assignments and roles vary depending on the organization and function.
GIL's office provides support in areas such as management, administration, finance, HR, and training. Together, we contribute to making everyday life work for both those who receive assistance and employees within the cooperative.
To attract and retain secure and engaged employees, GIL invests in training and joint activities.
- GIL's assistants have a collective agreement with Fremia–Kommunal
- Health and wellness allowance up to 2,500 SEK/year
- Individual salary setting
- A criminal record check may be requested depending on the position
Please submit your application as soon as possible, as selection is ongoing.
