Programmer / Automation Engineer

About the role

As an automation engineer with us, you will play a key role in developing, optimizing, and ensuring the operational reliability of our control and monitoring systems. You will work in project form together with project managers, electrical & instrumentation, mechanics, and the operations organization to ensure that our production facilities operate stably, efficiently, and in accordance with GMP requirements. Here, you will have the opportunity to work both strategically and operationally – from design and development to commissioning and ongoing improvement work.

In this role, you will:

• Program, configure, and maintain ABB 800xA
• Develop control logic, operator interfaces, sequences, and alarm management
• Participate in automation and investment projects from design phase to commissioning
• Work with troubleshooting, incident management, and improvement actions in a production environment
• Contribute to the development of internal standards and working methods
• Support operations and maintenance during changes, testing, FAT/SAT, and qualification
• Ensure correct documentation, version control, and GMP compliance
• Participate in risk analyses, Design Reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives

Who are you?

You have a technical education in automation, automated manufacturing, or a related field, and experience in programming and system work in ABB 800xA and ABB AC450. You have previously worked in the process industry, chemical industry, or another regulated environment, giving you a good understanding of requirements, documentation, and quality-assured processes.

It is also advantageous if you have a good understanding of DCS architectures, network topologies, and industrial communication protocols, as well as experience with Siemens S7, Rockwell systems, or SCADA platforms such as iFix or Ignition. Knowledge of GMP is also considered a plus.

As a person, you are analytical, meticulous, and solution-oriented with the ability to work systematically in complex system environments. You enjoy collaborating across technical boundaries and like to work closely with production to create long-term and reliable solutions.
