Job Advertisement: Strategic Developer in Crime Prevention

The City Management Office is the administrative body of the municipal executive board. We are responsible for governance, monitoring, and development of the city's operations based on the vision and budget decided by the municipal council. We have over 350 employees who mainly work with strategic issues that are of great importance to the city's operations.

Our unit for strategic development works on assignments related to crime prevention, safety, welfare crimes, violent extremism, human rights, social investments, Agenda 2030, as well as community life and civil society.

The unit consists of eleven strategists and a unit manager.

Your role

This is a role for you who want to have a central role in developing the city's crime prevention work. You will focus on overall coordination and situational prevention and work closely with colleagues responsible for social prevention and analysis/statistics. You enjoy working with both development issues and investigations and analytical work. The role is strategic, outward-facing, and development-oriented with great opportunities for you to influence and contribute your expertise from a central role. You will support city management and provide guidance and create engagement for the issues within the city's operations.

You plan, organize, and drive your work both independently and collaboratively. Good cooperation with the city's administrations and companies, as well as relevant authorities and other municipalities, is important for success in the role.

Examples of tasks:

  • Coordinate the city's collaboration with the Stockholm police region by following local work and reporting to the central steering group.
  • Support administrations in various issues, including establishing situational reports and action plans based on the law regarding municipalities' responsibility for crime prevention and the administrations' work with place collaboration.
  • Be responsible for processing the committees' applications for safety investments in the public environment.
  • Lead or participate in development projects and investigations.
  • Monitor the external environment and develop the city's expertise in the unit's subject areas.
  • Collaborate with relevant external actors to develop issues related to the area of responsibility and participate in regional collaboration forums.
  • Be responsible for and hold city-wide networks and meetings.
  • Develop governing documents such as the city's Safety Program and write service statements, for example, responses to government referrals.

In the long term, tasks within the unit's other areas of responsibility may also become relevant.

Your competence and experience

We are looking for someone who has:

  • an academic education in the social sciences or equivalent education that we assess as relevant for the position
  • experience in the field of crime prevention through education or work experience
  • experience in a similar role as a strategist, coordinator, or investigator
  • meritorious experience in any of the unit's areas of responsibility from municipal or other public operations.

To succeed in the role, you are confident and stable in your professional role with good collaboration skills. You are structured and have a strategic and analytical ability to drive long-term development issues in the area. You are communicative, a good stylist, and comfortable speaking and presenting in larger and smaller contexts. It is natural for you to stay updated on the latest developments relevant to your profession.
