Job Description

The project aims to create a spatially resolved mechanistic atlas of neurochemical changes and treatment responses in validated animal models for schizophrenia. Using advanced MALDI mass spectrometry imaging (MALDI-MSI), neurotransmitters, metabolites, lipids, peptides, and antipsychotic drugs and their metabolites will be mapped directly in intact brain sections. The project integrates pharmacological, inflammatory, and genetic animal models to identify region-specific biochemical changes associated with cognitive symptoms. You will be responsible for establishing, developing, and experimentally implementing these animal models, including planning and conducting in vivo studies. The tasks also include tissue preparation, optimization of MALDI-MSI protocols, mass spectrometric analysis, image and data analysis, statistical evaluation, and integration of molecular and behavioral data. The position includes method development, scientific publishing, and active participation in international collaborations.

Qualifications
