You will be employed at the Department of Cell and Molecular Biology (ICM), which is one of Europe’s leading biomolecular institutions. Your role will be placed at the national infrastructure National Bioinformatics Infrastructure Sweden (NBIS), which constitutes the Bioinformatics platform at Science for Life Laboratory (SciLifeLab) – Sweden's hub for molecular life sciences. Together with the NBIS Data Management unit, you will play a key role in developing and implementing human data management to meet the future needs of data-driven Life Science research. Job Responsibilities
We are looking for someone who wants to enable life science research in Sweden that goes beyond what can be achieved by individual researchers, a single university, or a specific research area. You will contribute to development activities in international projects for the management of genomic data and medical informatics, where NBIS is actively working to realize the visions of the 1+MG initiative (e.g., European Genomic Data Infrastructure and Genome of Europe). A central part of the role is to establish and implement routines for user support to researchers for making human genetic data accessible. The work also includes training researchers in principles and approaches for managing and sharing various types of sensitive research data, as well as actively participating in national networks for capacity building in research data management in Sweden. Travel, both domestic and international, may be required to perform the tasks.
Qualifications
Applicants must have at least a master’s degree in Life Science, information technology, or bioinformatics, or equivalent competence acquired in another way within one or more of these fields. Furthermore,
- Experience working with and/or describing clinical data or other types of sensitive data supported by relevant metadata standards, ontologies, and controlled vocabularies
- Familiarity with principles and conditions for open science and FAIR, as well as the ability to implement these in practice
- Documented experience in leading collaborative projects
- Skills in coordination and communication, as well as the ability to document and structure ongoing work
Great importance will be placed on personal suitability. The applicant should have excellent collaboration skills, initiative, and good communication qualities. As a person, you should be flexible and service-oriented, willing to learn new things and work on complex tasks. You should also be quality-conscious and goal- and result-oriented. You must be able to express yourself fluently in English, both in writing and speaking.
Desirable/meritorious qualifications
- Experience working with medical informatics or clinical genomics
- Familiarity with the EU's General Data Protection Regulation and relevant Swedish complementary legislation as well as research ethical regulations
- Experience in business development
- Experience with international repositories for depositing and publishing Life Science data
- Experience developing and working according to standardized operating procedures
- Experience working with user support
- Experience working in international projects and networks
- Experience in teaching
