Biomedical Analyst Wanted at the Department of Biological Basic Education

The Department of Biological Basic Education at Uppsala University (https://www.uu.se/institution/biologisk-grundutbildning/ (https://www.uu.se/institution/biologisk-grundutbildning/)) coordinates and administers all undergraduate education within the biological section (https://www.uu.se/vetenskapsomrade/teknik-och-naturvetenskap/ (https://www.uu.se/vetenskapsomrade/teknik-och-naturvetenskap/)). The department's overarching goal is to offer a wide range of courses and educational programs in biology, biotechnology, and bioinformatics at a high international level and with high pedagogical quality. The department has a broad operation and is located on three campuses: the Evolutionary Biology Center, the Biomedical Center, and Campus Gotland. Our educational environment is highly international, with students and a network of teachers from much of the world. The department has about 30 employees.

The Department of Biological Basic Education is now seeking a Biomedical Analyst.

Job Responsibilities

In collaboration with teachers and assistants, plan and prepare laboratory work for students. Assist teachers during laboratory sessions and contribute to student instruction regarding safety regulations and lab procedures. Be responsible for lab safety during experiments.

Preparation of solutions, substrates, specimens, and cell cultures for molecular biological, botanical, and zoological educational work. Set up equipment, solutions, etc., in the lab and clean up afterward. Plant cultivation work. Supervision and maintenance of laboratory equipment and chemicals at IBG's teaching laboratories at the Biomedical Center and the Evolutionary Biology Center at Uppsala University. Management of web-based administrative systems, such as the chemical management system KLARA and the e-commerce system Visma Proceedo.

Qualifications

A university degree as a biomedical analyst or education and experience deemed equivalent by the employer is required. The work requires previous experience in qualified laboratory work, computer proficiency, and a good ability to calculate concentrations. Furthermore, very good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written, is required.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability. As a person, you need to be able to organize your work, be meticulous, and have the ability to work independently. Being able to take initiative to solve problems is also of great importance. The role involves a lot of personal contact, which requires you to be outgoing, communicative, and have good collaboration skills.

Desirable/meritorious

Experience with web-based systems such as chemical management systems.

About the Employment

The employment is permanent (a probationary period may apply). The extent is 100%. Start date is 2026-05-15 or by agreement. Location: Uppsala
