Our Operations
Molecular diagnostics and clinical genetics is an expansive and exciting field at the Rudbeck Laboratory in Uppsala. We are an accredited highly specialized operation that performs diagnostics of congenital and acquired genetic abnormalities and provides genetic counseling. Currently, about 90 people work at the clinic with healthcare, research, and development. The operation is accredited according to ISO15189 and is subject to environmental certification according to ISO 14001.
We are now looking for a hospital geneticist/assistant hospital geneticist.

Being a hospital geneticist at the Academic University Hospital is a varied, significant, and developing job. You will work at a specialist hospital with a focus on the patient. As a hospital geneticist, you will work with continuous development and implementation of genetic diagnostic analyses in the laboratory as well as with interpretation and reporting of diagnostic analyses. Participation in quality work, supervision, education, and development of the operation is included in the tasks. Are you right for us?
We are looking for a hospital geneticist/assistant hospital geneticist with a focus on hereditary genetic diseases. Eligibility requires a degree of at least 240 higher education credits or equivalent in a relevant natural science subject. Furthermore, a doctoral degree with a relevant focus for the position is also required. We would like you to have laboratory experience in molecular biology within clinical genetics. Experience in genetic diagnostics and working on the development and implementation of various genetic methods for human diagnostics and hereditary cancer based on DNA or RNA sequencing with short or long reads is advantageous.
Experience that is meritorious includes knowledge regarding massive parallel sequencing and assessment of genetic abnormalities, particularly interpretation of their clinical significance. Knowledge and experience in cytogenetics are also considered a significant merit.
You should be able to express yourself well in Swedish in both speech and writing. You will work together with other hospital geneticists, laboratory staff, doctors, bioinformaticians, etc., so it is important that you have good collaboration skills and function well in a team.
