The Department of Medical Sciences is a large clinical institution with approximately 250 employees and over 900 affiliated personnel through the Academic Hospital. The department has a broad research profile with strong research groups in various fields. Research takes place in close proximity to the clinical activities at the Academic Hospital and encompasses both fundamental studies on disease causes and the development and evaluation of improved diagnostics and new treatment methods. You will be part of the experimental clinical chemistry group, which primarily works with metabolomics, machine learning (ML), and artificial intelligence (AI) to study multiple sclerosis and chronic pain. They investigate disease mechanisms and the role of environmental factors in disease development and severity.

Job Responsibilities

The job responsibilities mainly consist of assisting with pipetting and labeling of tubes, as well as coding these tubes in a data system.

The nature of the tasks requires a short response time and often occurs with very limited notice. For this position, flexible working hours are not applicable. Additionally, uncomfortable working hours may be required.

Qualifications

To be employed as an assistant, you must be admitted to undergraduate or graduate education at a university or college. The position requires documented and current experience in laboratory work, including pipetting and test tube labeling. Furthermore, very good and practically applied knowledge in R and Python is required.

Documented experience of at least two years of relevant work experience in similar tasks is an absolute requirement, as well as experience working according to GLP. Additionally, the position requires a very high level of accuracy, strong responsibility, and the ability to work flawlessly even under high time pressure. We have very high demands for personal suitability and will place decisive importance on verified references and very good evaluations from previous employers.

About the Position

The position of assistant is temporary according to HF 5 chap § 12. The extent is a maximum of 80 hours over a four-month period (approximately March-June 2026) on an hourly basis. Start date according to agreement. Location: Uppsala.
