Field of Medical Technology and Physics

We are Uppsala University Hospital – one of Sweden's leading university hospitals. As a regional hospital and provider of highly specialized care, we offer services to two million people in Central Sweden. Something is always happening here – a new life is born, a grandmother is operated on, a colleague is celebrated as a hero. With us, you will experience both hard trials and fantastic events, in a strong community with colleagues. See parts of our reality in our photo exhibition; akademiskafotoutstallning.se (http://akademiskafotoutstallning.se). Welcome with your application!

Our Operations

The Department of Medical Physics belongs to the field of Medical Technology and Physics (MTF) and is divided into four groups: MR Physics, Nuclear Medicine, Radiological Physics, and Radiation Therapy. Within Nuclear Medicine, eight physicists primarily provide operational, radiation safety, and research support to the Imaging and Functional Medicine Center (BFC).

Uppsala University Hospital has a comprehensive nuclear medicine operation with four PET/CT, three SPECT/CT, one cardiac camera, and one PET/MR. There is also a chemistry department with an associated cyclotron. We are also planning for a dedicated cyclotron for cardiac diagnostics with radioactive water and another PET/CT. In addition, we have an extensive operation with radionuclide therapy. We play a leading role in preparedness for radiological events. We are now looking for a hospital physicist at the beginning of their career, who is interested in developing a broad clinical competence in nuclear medicine.

Your Mission

Together with your colleagues, you will support the nuclear medicine operation in the form of clinical work, technical support, method development, optimization, quality assurance, training, and radiation safety. You are expected to take your own relevant initiatives, independently develop your work area, and contribute to driving the development of the clinical operation. There are good opportunities for specialist training as we have several qualified specialists who can mentor you.

Your Qualifications

You are, or will soon be, a licensed hospital physicist. The work involves close collaboration with other physicists and clinical staff. Good collaboration and communication skills are therefore of great importance. Work within clinical operations can at times involve a high workload. A stable personality combined with the ability to work in a structured manner are therefore important qualities. You strive to achieve your own and the organization's goals with high quality. Good oral and written proficiency in Swedish and English is required. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

We Offer

Permanent, full-time, starting as soon as possible. A probationary period may apply. With us, you will receive benefits that make a difference, read about the benefits here (https://regionuppsala.se/jobba-hos-oss/bli-var-nya-kollega/formaner/).
