Coordinator for the EU Project RE-MEND
Are you interested in working on a multidisciplinary project about how genetics and environment affect mental health, in a pleasant, dynamic, and international environment? The research group for Molecular Toxicology and Epigenetics (EpiTox) at the Department of Organism Biology is seeking a coordinator for the EU project RE-MEND.
Within Re-MEND (”Building Resilience against Mental illness during Endocrine-sensitive life stages”), the interplay between genetics and environment in relation to mental health is studied across four life stages: early childhood, puberty, the perinatal period, and aging. In these sensitive phases, the foundation can be laid for developing – or being resilient to – mental illness. Re-MEND also aims to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health issues, with the hope of paving the way for more personalized and preventive interventions in the future.
Job Responsibilities
As a project coordinator, you will coordinate communication and dissemination activities, which involve tasks such as gathering and creating communication content for the website and social media, organizing workshops, managing contact with stakeholders outside the project, and coordinating communication between project partners in the relevant work packages. You will also be involved in daily project management, which includes managing internal project communication, organizing and documenting project meetings, and coordinating project reporting. Upon agreement, there may also be research tasks such as DNA extraction and DNA methylation analyses.
It is expected that you, as a project coordinator, perform your tasks independently while working closely with the project coordinator and other project participants, and that you also engage in the scientific and social activities of the two institutions.
Qualifications
A PhD in biology or other areas deemed relevant to the project content. Documented experience in science communication and organizing scientific events is required. The applicant must have a very good ability to express themselves in English, both orally and in writing, and should be accustomed to communicating with various stakeholders. In the recruitment process, particular emphasis will be placed on personal qualities such as the candidate's organizational skills, ability to collaborate, communication in speech and writing, initiative, and independence.
Desirable/Additional Qualifications
Experience in DNA extraction and DNA methylation analyses, as well as previous involvement in large multidisciplinary EU projects, is meritorious.
