Unit for Defense Intelligence, Ministry of Defense

The Unit for Defense Intelligence (EFU) is responsible for continuously monitoring, directing, and developing defense intelligence operations. The unit is responsible for the development of policy and other governance and follow-up of authorities within the unit's area of responsibility. The unit is also responsible for parts of the Ministry of Defense's preparedness. The unit is part of the Department for Defense Intelligence, Security, and Cyber Issues (Fö FC).

The group manager has personnel responsibility for the employees in the group, which includes managing the group's operations and handling matters, without being the principal for these. You are responsible for promoting a good work environment, gender equality, and competence development for the group's staff. You conduct annual individual employee discussions and salary-setting conversations with the employees in the group. You report directly to the unit manager, who is also the principal for the unit's subject matters.

Together with other group managers and the unit manager, you work for consensus and uniformity within the unit and discuss internal management and governance issues in the ongoing operations, the operational plan, common working methods, as well as administrative and HR issues.

Your background

We are looking for someone with a relevant academic degree or other relevant degree or education that the employer assesses as equivalent. You have current experience in managing and driving processes and projects in a politically governed organization, as well as leadership experience from coordination roles, project manager in larger projects, or deputy management. You have current experience in government governance in the Government Offices and current experience in defense intelligence service. You have good knowledge of Swedish public administration, good oral and written skills in Swedish and English, and a very high security awareness.

It is an advantage if you have experience from EU and international work, work at relevant intelligence agencies, as well as current experience in the department's and unit's issues.

As a manager in the Government Offices, you have a holistic view and communicate overarching goals, involve others early, and promote collaboration for unified leadership. You drive the development of operations and the work environment, lead change with courage, and encourage learning and initiatives for development, while also developing your own competence and leadership. You focus on results by prioritizing, making decisions, and showing trust in employees' competence by supporting and coaching them, as well as addressing problems in a timely manner. We place great importance on your personal qualities.

Other

This is a permanent position as well as a fixed-term appointment as group manager. The position is classified in a security class, and a security review with a background check will be conducted before a hiring decision is made. You must be a Swedish citizen. Preparedness in the position occurs.
