Your Role

The Aeronautics business unit Advanced Programs is growing, and we are now looking for experienced system architects for the Mission Systems Architecture section to shape the future mission capabilities within combat aircraft systems. As a system architect, your job is not to manage finished solutions - but to set the direction and help define the architecture for future combat aircraft systems. Our focus is on systems of systems - where multiple platforms, sensors, and decision functions interact seamlessly in complex environments. We work with autonomous mission systems, communication, interoperability, and AI, as well as how functions in future defense systems are interconnected and interact dynamically - often through cloud-based or distributed solutions.

As a system architect with us, you will play a key role in developing architectural principles and solutions for future defense systems. You will work at the intersection of technology, operational needs, and strategic goals - in close collaboration with both customers, users, and cross-functional development teams.

We work in several technical areas related to architecture and system integration in complex mission environments. Right now, we are looking for reinforcement in one or more of the following areas:

• System-of-Systems architecture in environments with high technical and operational complexity
• Service-oriented architecture (SOA) and cloud-based integration
• Communication and interoperability between platforms and actors
• Live-Virtual-Constructive (LVC) for training and simulation
• Dynamic function allocation - right function, in the right place, at the right time
• Cyber Mission Assurance - security and resilience throughout the chain from sensor to decision

Depending on your background and interests, you will work in one or more of these areas - we are not looking for a person who knows everything, but individuals with interest or expertise in any of the above areas. You will be part of a smaller team of about 3-5 people within the technical area where you operate. The teams are characterized by high technical competence, strong system vision, and open and unpretentious collaboration. Here, there is both depth and curiosity - we share knowledge, challenge each other, and drive development forward together. The role involves contributing to architecture and design work from early concept phases to implementation in projects, in close collaboration with other specialists.

Your Profile

We are looking for a senior system architect (or equivalent) with several years of experience, preferably from:

• Defense, aviation, or other safety-critical operations
• Development of complex, distributed system environments

We would like you to think in terms of system landscapes rather than individual products, thrive in early phases, and want to be where the future is shaped - not just managed.

We believe you have:

• Solid experience in system architecture
• Knowledge of distributed systems, communication, and cloud solutions
• Understanding of interoperability, standards, and security aspects
• Experience in concept development, architecture modeling, and prototype development
• An analytical mind and good collaborative skills
• Good communication skills

We appreciate experience in any of the above areas, but it is not an absolute requirement. If you have a strong interest in, for example, distributed systems, communication solutions, or data links and want to further develop in the field, it is equally valuable.

The position requires you to undergo and be approved according to the applicable regulations for security protection. For positions where Saab has requirements for security classification, this may, in certain cases, entail requirements for specific citizenship.
