Are you ready for a bigger task? We are now looking for you who want to work as an operator at the police's national switchboard 114 14 located in Stockholm. We are looking for operators who are available to work during the day, evening, weekends, and nights. With us, you will contribute to increasing safety and reducing crime in Sweden together with engaged and friendly colleagues, while also developing and gaining life-long experiences.
The National Contact Unit, to which the National Switchboard belongs, has the main responsibility for the Police Authority's service and citizen meetings. This means ensuring that citizens' needs are met when using e-services to report crimes or provide tips, visiting our receptions, or calling the police's switchboard 114 14. In addition, the main responsibility for handling passports, national ID cards, and service cards.
Job Responsibilities
We are a growing organization with exciting challenges. The main task of the switchboard is to quickly, accurately, and professionally relay incoming calls to the Police Authority around the clock. The work involves contact with people who need police assistance for help and service. We have a high influx of calls and citizens who turn to us with questions of varying nature.
You will receive calls and independently perform call sorting with subsequent tasks. You are responsible for providing good service to both internal and external contacts, providing information and guidance to citizens, and contributing to maintaining good cooperation both internally and externally. The goal for the operation is to increase the proportion of cases that can be resolved in the first instance without being forwarded. In addition, you will actively participate and contribute to the development of the operation. You will gain broad and solid knowledge of the Police Authority's organization and its societal function.
The NTV is staffed around the clock, 365 days a year. Working hours are arranged through three shifts, which means day, evening, and night shifts. You will be scheduled, which means you cannot choose to work days, evenings, or nights.
Qualifications
This is an opportunity for you who have:
- Completed and approved high school diploma or other equivalent education deemed comparable by the employer
- At least one year of current and continuous work experience (full-time) in service or another area deemed relevant by the employer
- Good computer skills
- Very good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written
- Good knowledge of English in speech
It is meritorious if you also have:
- Experience of working three shifts (daytime, evening, weekends, and nights)
- Experience of working at inconvenient hours (evenings, nights, and weekends)
- Experience of working in multiple parallel computer systems
- Experience of working within a government agency
- Experience of working in a larger contact center platform, for example, from call centers, customer service, switchboard, and as an alarm operator
- Additional language skills that you can use in professional contexts that the employer deems relevant
Personal Qualities
We are looking for someone who has good communication skills and is attentive in conversations, as the phone is your primary working tool. This also means that you need to guide the conversations through good reception and service sense, ensuring that your message gets through. As we meet citizens in all situations in life, it is required that you have a good ability to handle conversations of a heavier nature.
To make correct assessments and priorities in the conversations, you need to quickly understand the caller's perspective and have empathy for the situation without letting emotions take over. You value completing your tasks in a professional and sustainable manner while also having the ability to switch pace. Others would describe you as a stable and stress-resistant person with high personal maturity.

Employment Type: Permanent, with a probationary period of 6 months
Work Location: Stockholm, Farsta
Work Schedule: Period-planned working hours (three-shift work during the day, evening, weekends, and nights)
Scope: Full-time
Start Date: As agreed, preliminary start in June 2026. The employment will start with an introductory training. Approved training is a requirement for employment.
