Then you might be the one we are looking for in our efforts to strengthen financial stability in Sweden.

About Us

The Financial Stability Department is responsible for the various assignments of the Swedish National Debt Office (Riksgälden) in financial crisis management. We work to counteract serious disruptions in the financial system by managing financial firms in crisis in a stability-preserving and cost-effective manner for the state. We are now looking for an employee who can contribute to this work.

In the department, we work with economic and legal issues to be prepared to handle various financial firms in crisis. The preparatory work includes making assessments and analyses of how crisis management should be carried out by developing resolution plans and imposing requirements on the firms. The work involves close cooperation with both Swedish and international authorities. The Swedish National Debt Office is also responsible for planning and conducting crisis exercises within financial stability.

This is What You Will Do with Us

With us, you will make a societal contribution at the center of the financial market and participate in the development of the Swedish National Debt Office's mission as a resolution authority for central counterparties and insurance companies. You will play an important role in preparing for the new resolution mandate for insurance companies. You will drive your own projects and collaborate with colleagues in the unit as well as within the department to develop policies and methods for implementing resolutions of central counterparties and insurance companies.

Your work will also include developing and engaging in collaboration with authorities in other countries, as well as maintaining ongoing contacts with other stability-preserving authorities such as the Ministry of Finance, the Financial Supervisory Authority, and the Riksbank.

Your Profile

You work independently towards set goals, take your own initiatives, and have the ability to see the whole picture in an organization. The role requires you to be meticulous, analytical, and structured. You have good collaboration skills and are an effective communicator who expresses yourself well in both Swedish and English, both orally and in writing. We consider a strong interest in socio-economic issues and consumer protection to be a given.

You should have:

  • A degree in economics or another academic education that we assess as equivalent.
  • Experience working with resolution issues.

It is meritorious if you have experience from:

  • Working in insurance companies.
  • Working at the Financial Supervisory Authority, the Ministry of Finance, or the Riksbank.
  • Working within EU institutions or any of the European supervisory authorities (Eiopa, Eba, and Esma).
  • Programming in VBA and Python.

Financial Holdings

As an employee of the Swedish National Debt Office, you have an obligation to report your holdings of financial instruments. To hold shares in a bank as an employee of the Swedish National Debt Office, special permission is required.

Security-Classified Position

As an employee at the Swedish National Debt Office, you may be placed in a military position based on the needs of total defense. Certain roles are classified for security, and Swedish citizenship may therefore be a requirement.
