Job Responsibilities

We at the City Planning Administration's Detailed Planning Department are over 100 people with a fantastic and interesting mission: to develop Sweden's second largest city through urban planning.

Together with other competencies in the city and many different stakeholders, we work to make Gothenburg a green, close, and dynamic metropolis. Right now, it is more exciting than ever to work with us as there is a lot happening in the field of urban planning!

We are now looking for an urban planner who wants to drive urban development through projects and plans that have a significant impact on the future of Gothenburg. As an urban planner, you will independently manage detailed plans and planning programs, from project management to detailed design of planning documents. With us, you will have significant influence and responsibility in shaping planning proposals and a responsibility to create progress through structured work and lead and distribute the work within the project. In your role, you will work with many friendly and competent colleagues from different departments who, like you, are passionate about shaping good urban environments. The role of the urban planner includes establishing a project culture where all members work towards common goals and strengthen each other's competencies.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a master's degree, for example as an architect, physical planner, or equivalent in urban planning. You have at least 3 years of experience in detailed planning and are used to independently driving planning projects.

We see that you have solid experience in physical planning and want to drive complex urban development projects. The position requires good knowledge of the Planning and Building Act and the Environmental Code. Previous experience working within a municipal organization is considered an advantage.

You enjoy working collaboratively with colleagues and cooperating with various stakeholders. As a person, you are engaged in your work and thrive on independently driving your projects forward. You are proactive and have an eye for what needs to be done. You have good collaboration skills, a creative streak, and being pedagogical are also important qualities to thrive in the role of urban planner with us.

Additional Information

We are currently renovating our workplace at Köpmansgatan 20, where all urban development departments will gather. The new premises are expected to be ready by August 2026. Until then, we are in temporary locations at central addresses.

As we have already decided on the recruitment channels we wish to use for this recruitment, we kindly but firmly ask not to be contacted for further offers of competence mediation, advertising, and recruitment assistance.
