Your tasks

The legal unit of Linköping Municipality is now looking for a data protection strategist!

As a data protection strategist, you will be responsible for providing legal support and advice on the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and related legislation to the municipality's committees and administrations.

In your role, you will have a varied and diverse job where you will work with all of the municipality's administrations. You will work closely with the operations and data protection coordinators to help them make priorities and trade-offs in the area of data protection. You will also assist them in their work to implement the requirements set out in the GDPR and related legislation. To spread information and knowledge, you will conduct training sessions, and it may also be relevant to develop cross-municipal documents in the area of data protection.

In addition to the municipality's administrations, you will also work together with the municipality's data protection officers and municipal lawyers.

Your workplace

As a data protection strategist, you will be placed in the municipality's legal unit. The unit is responsible for cross-municipal legal issues and ensures that professional expert support is available in legal matters, and also supports some of the municipal companies in data protection issues. The legal unit is led by the chief lawyer and consists of six municipal lawyers and two data protection officers.

The workplace is centrally located at Ågatan 40. You will work Monday to Friday, and the role applies a trust-based working time.

Who you are

We are looking for someone with a law degree, a master's degree in business law, or an equivalent degree that the employer assesses as equivalent. You have previous experience in legal work and knowledge of the GDPR, data protection issues, and related legislation. Experience with public access and secrecy legislation, administrative law, municipal law, and legal work in the public sector is considered an advantage. Experience in enabling the use of AI solutions through the application of the GDPR and good knowledge of the AI regulation is also seen as advantageous.

The position requires excellent oral and written communication skills in Swedish, as the work demands a high level of skill in interpreting and writing complex texts, as well as the ability to clearly and pedagogically convey complicated legislation to non-lawyers.

The role requires the ability to take initiative and independently drive issues within your areas of expertise. You should be able to structure your work and communicate solutions clearly and pedagogically, both orally and in writing. Furthermore, you work well with others and can relate to them in a responsive and smooth manner. You work towards goals and have a clear results-oriented mindset and can change your direction when goals shift.
