The Department of Sociology is one of the larger departments within the Faculty of Social Sciences. Here is Stockholm University's demographic unit (SUDA). SUDA is a leading research unit conducting interdisciplinary research focusing on the relationships between population processes and various social, economic, cultural, and political factors and outcomes.
Job Responsibilities
We are seeking a research assistant for the Forte-funded project “Diversity Preferences, Diversity-Motivated Behaviors and Their Consequences: A Study of Foreign-Born Residents in Sweden at the Intersection of Country of Birth and Migration Cause.” The primary initial responsibility of the research assistant will be to conduct a thorough and up-to-date literature review on immigrants' preferences and how these are captured in experimental survey data. As the project progresses, responsibilities will expand to include the design, implementation, and analysis of a survey on migration-related diversity preferences in Sweden, as well as work with quantitative register data (including data cleaning, data compilation, and analyses). The research assistant will collaborate with the project's principal investigator, Dr. Elena Pupaza.
Qualifications
The applicant must have completed a master's degree in sociology, demography, or another related social science. Knowledge of STATA, R, or Python, as well as a reference management program such as Zotero or BibTeX, is desirable. Courses in or knowledge of survey methodology and migration studies are also important. Finally, great emphasis will be placed on the applicant's ability to speak one or more languages that are native to large groups of foreign-born residents in Sweden, including Arabic, Cantonese or Mandarin, German, or Spanish.
Employment Conditions
The position is for six months at 100% with the possibility of extension. Start date as soon as possible.
