At the National Board of Forensic Medicine, you have the opportunity to practice your profession while contributing to creating a legally secure society together with your colleagues. The forensic medicine unit in Uppsala consists of about 23 employees who work together to conduct forensic autopsies and issue forensic certificates.

Your assignment

As a forensic medical assistant (autopsy technician), you will primarily work practically to prepare and assist in forensic autopsies, arrange the deceased, handle samples, and participate in the unit's morgue operations. You may also have contact with the police, relatives, and funeral contractors.

Qualifications:

• At least a high school diploma, e.g., nursing assistant training, or equivalent education deemed comparable by the National Board of Forensic Medicine
• Work experience from practical work in, for example, healthcare or other physically and mentally demanding jobs
• Good knowledge of Swedish in both spoken and written form

Meritorious:

• Experience with forensic autopsies
• Experience with the deceased, for example, from autopsy operations, healthcare, or emergency services
• Good knowledge of anatomy

Your personal qualities and abilities

To handle the work, both integrity and personal maturity are required. The tasks are both physically and mentally challenging. They include both fine motor skills and physically heavy tasks, which require good physical condition, as well as the ability to handle difficult events in connection with death investigations.

The employment

The employment is a fixed-term position for 8-10 weeks full-time during the summer of 2025, located at the forensic medical unit in Uppsala. Start date according to agreement. The National Board of Forensic Medicine applies individual salary setting.

We apply a competency-based recruitment process, and there may be psychological tests, knowledge tests, or work samples. In some of our recruitments, a background check is conducted. Upon employment at the National Board of Forensic Medicine, there is an obligation to be placed in wartime.
