The Malmö Academy of Music is seeking a University Lecturer in Flute with a focus on Western Classical Music
The position is 30 percent with placement in the Music Education programs.
The employment is permanent with a start date of August 10, 2026.
Teaching tests and interviews are planned for weeks 11 and 12.
Responsibilities
- Teaching flute at both basic and advanced levels.
- Teaching chamber music.
- Participating in the artistic and pedagogical development work of the music education programs, including work in subject collegiums, jury work during admission tests, as well as participation in examinations, evaluations, and follow-ups.
- Representing the music academy's music education within the subject area and strengthening the institution's position in national and international networks.
Qualifications
- Master's degree from a music academy or another higher education institution in music.
- Extensive and ongoing activity as a musician at a high artistic level, with a deep grounding in Western classical music.
- Documented experience of teaching in the subject area at a music academy.
- Experience with administrative tasks relevant to the position.
- Experience collaborating with other higher education institutions in music education nationally and internationally.
- Good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
For the position, it is also required that you have completed a higher education pedagogical training of at least five weeks, or have acquired equivalent knowledge in another way. If there are special reasons, the appointed person may undergo the training during the first two years.
Assessment Criteria
- Very good subject knowledge with clear relevance to the content of the position and the included responsibilities.
- Good pedagogical ability – which means a good ability to conduct, develop, and lead teaching and other pedagogical activities, at different levels and with varying teaching methods.
- Extensive experience of working in symphony orchestras as well as in the chamber music field, both nationally and internationally. Great emphasis is placed on well-documented high levels as an artistic performer.
- Good ability to spread engagement and interest in the subject areas of the position and the ability to engage and inspire students to their own learning.
- Good ability to plan, structure, and implement education at a high level.
- Good ability to collaborate with the surrounding cultural life.
In assessing the applicant, consideration will also be given to good collaborative skills and how the applicant, through their experience and competence, is expected to complement and strengthen the subject areas within the institution.

The Faculty of Fine and Performing Arts in Malmö is one of eight faculties within Lund University and consists of the Academy of Fine Arts, the Academy of Music, and the Academy of Theatre, as well as the Inter Arts Center. The Faculty offers bachelor's, master's, and master's programs in fine arts, music, and theatre, as well as a number of courses of varying scope. Artistic research and doctoral education with an artistic focus and in music pedagogy are also conducted here.
