Description

The Financial Unit is the university's cohesive resource for the financial administrative process.

We have four operational areas: accounting, accounts receivable, procurement and purchasing, and financial systems. We also have a financial pool that acts as a consulting support to institutions and units within Umeå University. Through our work, we contribute to increased competence, which in turn leads to quality-assured accounting for the entire university.

We are now looking for someone who wants to work as an economist with us at the Financial Unit. You will be part of a financial pool consisting of two people, where you will work as an internal economic consultant with parallel assignments supporting institutions and units as needed. The position is full-time and permanent, with a start date according to agreement.

Responsibilities

Your primary workplace will be at the Financial Unit but may sometimes be located at institutions/units. Your tasks will include participating in the accounting process, which means working with financial administration, bookkeeping, follow-up and analysis, as well as budget and forecasting work. The work also involves reporting and follow-up internally within the authority and to external funders and clients. The work is varied, and you will independently plan based on given deadlines.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with:

• A university degree in economics (preferably in accounting), or equivalent competence acquired through experience working with qualified financial issues within a large organization.
• Several years of documented experience working as an economist and documented good knowledge in accounting.
• Good understanding of the financial administrative process and good knowledge of working with the various parts of a financial system.
• Strong skills in Office programs, particularly Excel.
• Experience working in digital collaborative environments and familiarity with Microsoft 365, including tools like Teams and Planner.
• Good ability to express yourself in Swedish and English, both verbally and in writing.

As the work involves many contacts, we are looking for someone with good collaboration skills, flexibility, and a solution-oriented approach. Furthermore, we see that you can create simple and clear structures and describe them in a pedagogical manner. You are responsible, meticulous, analytical, and can quickly grasp new tasks.

We will place great emphasis on your personal qualities.

Conditions

The position is full-time and permanent, with a start date according to agreement. A probationary period may be applied.
