Regional Controller at the Economic Department

The Economic Department is part of the regional council's administration. Within the accounting and governance unit, region-wide processes related to the Economic Department's mission are coordinated, such as budget work, bookkeeping, follow-up, and analysis. We are now looking for an experienced controller who will work with regional issues and be based in accounting and governance in Umeå.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a regional controller with us, you provide important service and enable initiatives that impact many. The Economic Department actively supports the region's administrations, where the accounting and governance unit works region-wide. This means that you both lead and provide direct support to the operations while driving and developing processes within the economic area. Together with experienced colleagues, you take joint responsibility for continuously improving and developing economic processes. We look forward to a future where you take an active role in implementing new technology that will streamline daily work and contribute to a comprehensive transition in the coming years.

A central and significant part of your work is to lead and function as a strategic economic support for the regional council's administration. This also includes the region's financial management, in which you play an active role. You lead and actively contribute to the regional council's strategic dialogues and economic analyses for the future. Your support to the regional council includes both strategic and operational tasks within the budget and follow-up processes.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for a business economist or a person with another relevant higher education in the economic field. You have documented experience in controller assignments or similar tasks in both the private and public sectors. As a person, you are innovative, analytical, and have a strong interest in development work. You have a clear drive and are accustomed to functioning as a natural support for management functions in their work.

We value your ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally, as well as your pedagogical skill in conveying information and messages, which is a central part of this role. You have very good knowledge of MS Office programs and experience working with budget, accounting, and decision support systems. Our operations utilize Unit4 ERP and Power BI, and we would like you to have previous experience with these systems.
