Project Manager for the Development of Dalarna's Tourism Industry
Do you want to help develop Dalarna's tourism industry and create better conditions for small businesses to grow sustainably? Dalarna's tourism industry is filled with unique companies: adventure guides, farm shops, cafés, activity companies, and smaller accommodations that deliver fantastic experiences. At the same time, there is often a lack of business tools in areas such as pricing, sales, digital visibility, and packaging, making it difficult to grow or collaborate with resellers and create stable year-round operations.
Visit Dalarna is now looking for an experienced and committed project manager who wants to lead the development project “Strengthening Small Businesses through Travel Reasons” funded by the EU and Region Dalarna. Through targeted efforts, skills-enhancing activities, and collaboration between companies, the project aims to help more businesses operate year-round, reach new markets, create new jobs, and strengthen the tourism industry's role in the long-term development of the region. The project aims for more small businesses to qualify to eventually become export-ready and take the step into our international work. The project's primary target group is small businesses with a turnover of 1–5 million SEK, with a clear desire to develop.
ABOUT THE POSITION
This is a role for you who want to combine strategic development work with practical execution power while also contributing to building a stronger, more sustainable, and competitive Dalarna.
As a project manager, you have overall responsibility for driving the project towards set goals within given time frames, budgets, and quality requirements. You lead both internal resources and external actors and ensure that the project's efforts create tangible benefits for the companies and contribute to long-term regional development.
Your role includes leading and coordinating the entire project process from planning to execution and evaluation, as well as building networks with companies and actors in the value chain. You conduct needs analyses and environmental monitoring, drive training and coaching, and develop educational materials and communication support. You lead the project team, coordinate resources, and are responsible for follow-up, reporting, and procurement according to the Public Procurement Act (LOU).
You report to the project development manager and work closely with our tourism coordinators and project economist.
WHO ARE YOU?
We are looking for someone who is confident in their project management role and has the ability to translate strategic goals into operational execution. Since the role involves a high degree of personal responsibility, self-leadership is a crucial trait.
We see that you have:
- A university degree in commercial growth or in another area that the employer considers relevant.
- Several years of experience in qualified project management.
- Experience in developing/coaching small and medium-sized enterprises.
- Experience working with reselling/ecosystems/value chains within the tourism industry.
- Experience leading/conducting training in product development.
- Experience building and developing networks between companies.
- Experience managing employees in projects.
- Good familiarity with public procurement and requirements towards suppliers.
- Very good collaboration skills.
- Good administrative skills and financial understanding.
- A valid driver's license (the position involves travel within the county).
It is an advantage if you have previously worked with EU-funded projects and have an understanding of the accounting and structure that it requires.
As a person, you are business-minded, structured, and communicative. You enjoy building relationships and have a genuine interest in seeing businesses grow and develop.

Scope: Full-time (100%).
