Construction Manager/Investigation Engineer for Traffic and Park Department

The Traffic and Park Department's area of activity includes streets, roads, bridges, quays, traffic, parking, parks, public transport, school transport, and permitting.

The Planning and Investigation Unit acts as a support function to other units within the department and to other departments and units within the municipality. The unit is responsible for the implementation of the department's larger projects and assignments within streets, walking and cycling paths, bridges and quays, paving, traffic safety, and parking, as well as processing permits.

Job Responsibilities

At the Traffic and Park Department, you will be part of building and managing the future of Örnsköldsvik. As a Construction Manager/Investigation Engineer, you will primarily work with construction management in various projects within the areas of roads, streets, and walking and cycling paths. As a construction manager, it is part of your role to follow up on projects financially and to make cost-conscious decisions where you report to the responsible project manager. When necessary, you will support your organization in their inquiries and participate as an expert in the early stages of projects. Here, you will be involved from the idea and investigation phase to final inspection and future maintenance. The unit is a referral body in, among other things, building permits and planning work where you may participate as a representative of the Traffic and Park Department. Infrastructure issues are engaging, which means that in your role you will have contact with officials and other staff from your own and other departments, the public, consultants, contractors, authorities, and in some cases politicians.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with relevant technical university or college education or knowledge and experience that we deem equivalent. You have a good ability to express yourself well in Swedish, both orally and in writing, and a driver's license with at least category B.

Meritorious

It is advantageous if you have experience in contract law, AMA construction, design of roads and streets (VGU), and other standard regulations within the construction industry. Understanding of working in a politically governed organization and municipal processing, as well as experience in public procurement (LOU). Experience in execution and contractor collaboration, as well as experience in construction management within infrastructure.

As a person, you are engaged in infrastructure and community building issues. You have the ability to analyze, be creative, take initiative, and perform your tasks in a structured manner. You are responsible and have the ability to prioritize among assigned tasks. You have good cooperation skills and enjoy communicating with those involved in the projects and those affected by the assignments. Much of the work will be done in close collaboration with colleagues, which requires you to be receptive and willing to share your knowledge.
