Welcome to Sundsvall Municipality!
Sundsvall Municipality is one of Northern Sweden's largest employers with around 8,000 employees and over 300 professions. Together, we fulfill one of the most important missions in society – to create utility and value for residents, businesses, and future generations. Regardless of the activity, we work towards the same goal: to be a great place to live, work, and thrive.
We are currently in an exciting development phase. We are a pioneer in digital development and artificial intelligence, leading the work to create smart solutions for the future public sector.
Sundsvall plays a central role in the green transition in Northern Sweden. We are convinced that the right places for this transition are here. As a municipality, we are preparing to grow by preparing land, creating new educational opportunities, marketing the municipality, and welcoming new residents from all over the world.
Your new workplace
The Culture and Leisure Committee offers a wide and varied range of cultural and leisure opportunities.
The aim is to create quality of life for residents and make Sundsvall an attractive municipality to live, study, work in, and visit. This is achieved through our own activities in the areas of sports, outdoor life, leisure, culture, museums, and libraries, as well as through grants to associations and study associations. The committee also has the municipality's operational safety work, youth democracy work, consumer, energy, budget, and debt counseling, as well as processing lottery permits in its core mission.
The administration consists of about 300 employees, in addition to approximately 150 hourly employees. We now need to recruit a committee secretary. The workplace is located in the office of the staff, which is situated in the Culture Magazine in central Sundsvall. The staff is a small group of currently six people who work closely together despite very different tasks.
Do you want a qualified, varied, and exciting assignment where you work closely with the political organization and have the opportunity to develop the case management process? Then this could be the right position for you!
Your contribution as a committee secretary
As a committee secretary, you will play a key role in supporting the committee's work while contributing to the development of the democratic decision-making process. You will coordinate the committee's work and provide qualified support to both officials and elected representatives. Your task is to ensure a legally secure, structured, and efficient case and decision-making process. You will be responsible for coordinating the committee's case management, participating in preparation meetings, writing minutes, and quality assuring decision materials.
As a committee secretary with us, you will work in a team with the administration's registrar and in close collaboration with other colleagues in the administration office.
Since the staff is a small group, the committee secretary's role will be supplemented with other tasks, which may vary over time. Currently, for example, we have a need to strengthen our crisis and preparedness organization.
Your skills and experience
You have a relevant post-secondary education for the position, such as in law, political science, or similar fields deemed relevant for the position. You can express yourself excellently in the Swedish language, both orally and in writing. Furthermore, you possess high digital competence, including experience with operational systems, document management, statistical tools, and digital collaboration platforms.
It is advantageous to have:
- Experience working as a committee secretary or another role that has given you experience in public administration.
- Previous experience in digital case management and meeting techniques.
- Knowledge in document management, archive issues, or open data. If you have also worked on building and improving structures and working methods, that is a plus.
- Experience in information management or making impact assessments.
- Experience in investigative work, leading projects and/or processes.
To succeed in this assignment, your personal qualities are very important, and we will place great emphasis on them in this recruitment. The position requires good collaboration skills and a service-oriented approach. We want you to be a person who, with commitment and drive, moves your issues forward, has a natural ability to build trusting relationships, and is willing to share your knowledge to uplift both colleagues and the organization.
In addition to your communicative skills, you have good knowledge of the Swedish language, which enables you to express yourself clearly and pedagogically in complex issues, both orally and in writing. It is also important for you to have order and structure, and you thrive in an administrative role where you can take responsibility for your tasks and independently structure, prioritize, and drive your work both individually and in collaboration with others.
