We harness the power of over 40,000 students and staff. Students who provide hope for the future. Staff who contribute every day to Linköping University tackling contemporary challenges. Our values are based on credibility, trust, and security. By being courageous, thinking freely, and innovating, we together create a better future through both large and small actions. Welcome to apply for a job with us!
We are now looking for a Deep Learning Expert who can develop methods for medical image processing.
Your Responsibilities
The position involves developing deep learning methods for medical image processing, focusing on orthopedics, cardiovascular diseases, and federated learning. In orthopedics, the focus is on identifying atypical femoral fractures and predicting prosthesis failure by utilizing a very large number of X-ray images. For cardiovascular diseases, the goal is to predict whether a patient is at risk of atherosclerosis from CT volumes. The position also involves developing new methods for federated learning, where data is distributed across multiple nodes.
As a postdoctoral researcher, you will primarily conduct research. Teaching may also be part of your responsibilities, but no more than one-fifth of your working time.
Your Qualifications
To be eligible for the position of postdoctoral researcher, you must have obtained a doctoral degree or have a foreign degree that is deemed equivalent to a doctoral degree. Your degree must be completed by the time the employment decision is made.
It is advantageous if your degree was obtained no more than three years before the application deadline for this position. If there are special reasons, it may be considered for those who obtained their doctoral degree earlier, for example, due to various types of statutory leave.
We are looking for someone with a doctoral degree in (medical) imaging, computer vision, computer science, or machine learning. Experience with convolutional networks, visual transformers, and deep learning tools such as TensorFlow, Pytorch, and Keras is expected. Experience with federated learning is advantageous. We also believe you have experience handling large image datasets and using GPU clusters to train large models.
You are self-driven, meticulous, and work efficiently. Since this position involves collaboration with multiple researchers, it is important to communicate well with all researchers.
Your Workplace
Linköping University is one of the leading AI institutions in Sweden. We have strong connections to prominent national research initiatives, such as DDLS, WASP, and ELLIIT, and you will have access to state-of-the-art computing infrastructure for machine learning, e.g., through BerzeLiUs and powerful local computers.
You will work in the Department of Medical Technology (IMT), which conducts research in many projects that combine medicine and technology. The position is within a research group that develops methods for medical images. The research group collaborates with several physicians at the University Hospital in Linköping, through CMIV. The research group also collaborates with other departments at LiU; primarily the Department of Computer Vision at the Department of Electrical Engineering (focusing on deep learning for computer vision), and the Department of Statistics and Machine Learning at the Department of Computer Science (focusing on the theory behind machine learning).
About the Employment
The position is a fixed-term employment for two years with the possibility of extension for a total employment period of no more than three years. The postdoctoral position is full-time.
Start date as soon as possible or by agreement.
Salary and Benefits
The university applies individual salary setting.
