Administrator at the Swedish Prison and Probation Service in Borås
The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now looking for more employees. Our primary goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society becomes safer and more secure for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation, remand, and client transport.
The Borås operational area consists of the Borås Remand Prison and the Borås Prison. The remand prison is part of the police station located in central Borås, and the prison is situated in the Västeråsen district of Borås. Construction of a new remand prison near Borås Central Station is underway, and this new facility, Häktet Brodal, is planned to be inaugurated and put into operation in March.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The administration is a service function where you will work in a team handling client cases through the registration and processing of client documents such as decisions, judgments, etc. The administration is responsible for archives, diaries, mail handling, orders, and managing the authority's incoming emails. The job also includes other common administrative tasks. This role will also largely involve handling judgments and financial administration. As an administrator, you will have external contacts, representing the Swedish Prison and Probation Service to partners and the public. The tasks require knowledge of the principle of public access while ensuring that confidentiality is maintained. You will be subject to the security work applicable to the workplace.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for someone who is self-driven and service-oriented. The processing in the work is part of the legal process, so it is essential that you are meticulous and structured. You have good judgment, are quality-conscious, can prioritize correctly, and are accustomed to working at a high pace at times. The work as an administrator is a service function and requires the ability to work both independently and in close collaboration with other employees at the remand prison and prison, as well as other actors both within and outside the authority.

You are also aware of and understand how background, culture, and group affiliation affect yourself and others. We are looking for someone who has:
- Work experience, including seasonal employment, temporary employment, or self-employment (internships and volunteer work are not considered equivalent to employment).
- Completed upper secondary education with a diploma/certificate, preferably (but not necessarily) with a social science focus.
- Good knowledge of public administration, including the Administrative Procedure Act.
- Good knowledge of public access and confidentiality, including relevant legislation.
- Good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both orally and in writing.
- Good computer skills, including proficiency in the Office suite.
It is advantageous if you have:
- Work experience from administrative work within public administration, especially if the experience is from the justice system.
- Post-secondary education in public administration, public access and confidentiality, law, or other post-secondary education that the Swedish Prison and Probation Service deems relevant for the position.
- Knowledge of and experience with the judgment process.
- Knowledge of and experience with diary management.
- Knowledge of and experience with the systems Platina and Proceedo.
