Södra Folk High School Helsingborg is operated by Folkuniversitetet as the main authority.

Folkuniversitetet is characterized by the idea of providing people with the conditions for a richer life through knowledge and education. We are now looking for you who are an educated teacher and who, with a commitment to people and social issues, want to take on the role of educator at our school in the heart of Helsingborg.

At the school, there is a culture that is important to maintain – where the importance of being who you are, being seen, and being listened to permeates the activities. It should simply be meaningful and developing to come to school, both for participants and staff. At Södra Folk High School, learning occurs in interaction with reality, as much as in the classroom. This means that we move around the city, collaborate with community actors, and create teaching that is anchored in working life.

We are now developing and strengthening our vocational preparatory course in correctional services and security and are looking for someone who wants to help build, drive, and further develop this post-secondary education.

About the assignment

The course aims to prepare participants for work within the Correctional Services and other activities where protection, security, and professional interaction are in focus. The education combines theory, practice, and experience-based learning with a language focus and close collaboration with working life.

As an educator, you will play a central role in:

  • planning, implementing, and developing teaching in areas such as behavioral science, criminology, authority language, communication, conversation methodology, conflict management, law, and ethics
  • working experience-based with exercises, case studies, role-playing, and practical elements
  • strengthening participants' linguistic, social, and professional competence
  • collaborating with authorities and organizations through study visits, guest lectures, and networks
  • building bridges between participants and working life
  • contributing to participants' personal development, self-leadership, and health
  • developing the course

You will help create a safe and inclusive learning environment where participants from different backgrounds can grow, find their role, and become employable.

We are looking for someone who

  • is an educated teacher with a pedagogical degree
  • has higher education in a relevant field, such as behavioral science, criminology, social work, pedagogy, security, or similar
  • has experience in teaching or other educational work
  • has knowledge of or experience from correctional services, social work, authority operations, or other community-supporting activities
  • is confident in leading groups and working with conversations, interactions, and conflict management
  • can balance a personal and trusting approach with the professionalism and integrity required in authority-related activities
  • enjoys working practically, flexibly, and close to reality
  • is collaborative and enjoys creating networks with external actors

Extra merits

  • experience from folk high school or folk education
  • experience in experience-based pedagogy
  • familiarity with language-developing methods or authority language
  • experience in building or developing educational programs
  • knowledge of NPF and/or working with vulnerable individuals

About us

The participants of the folk high school constitute a heterogeneous group with different backgrounds, conditions, and experiences. This places demands on your ability to work flexibly and individually adapted. We are a small folk high school where everyone helps and supports each other in the team.

We actively work for equality and an inclusive work environment and strive for the staff to reflect the diversity that exists among our participants.

We offer you

You will have the opportunity to work with engaged colleagues in a modern folk high school with high ambitions and an outward-facing approach. You will have the chance to influence, be part of building, and developing the course together with your colleagues and our partners.

For the position

The position is a permanent full-time (100%) employment that begins with a 6-month probationary period. Start date is May 4 or by agreement.

Questions about the position: Contact Principal Midia Osman Taha, tel: 073 04 77 217, email: [email protected]
