There are approximately 47,000 students and more than 8,800 employees in Lund, Helsingborg, and Malmö. We unite in our effort to understand, explain, and improve our world and the conditions of people.
Lund University welcomes applicants from diverse backgrounds and experiences. Equality, equal opportunities, and diversity are fundamental principles for all parts of our operations.
Project Description
The overarching goal of FAMIMOVE is to contribute to an effective and coherent application of EU regulations in international family law, particularly by ensuring increased awareness of international instruments applicable to the protection of migrating children.
This project aims to build on the results of previous research by focusing on vulnerable children in flight and by strengthening the networks already established by experts in international family law and migration law.
The project will emphasize the interplay between the key private international law instruments on international family law (the Brussels II Regulation, the Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction of 1980, and the Hague Convention on Protection of Children of 1996) and the new pact on migration and asylum that will be applied from mid-2026, as well as the EU Directive on Temporary Protection (Directive 2001/55/EC).
The project aims to provide a better understanding of this interplay and to issue recommendations, particularly to the European Commission and other relevant stakeholders, on how to ensure better mutual understanding and coordination of the aforementioned instruments. The project is funded by the EU Commission. It is led by researchers from Maastricht University, with the Faculty of Law at Lund University as the Swedish partner. Professor Ulf Maunsbach leads the Swedish part of the project. The currently advertised research assistant position involves work on the parts of the project for which researchers at the Faculty of Lund are responsible.
Job Responsibilities
The job responsibilities include administrative support and research assistance within the framework of the FAMIMOVE project. This includes, among other things, contacts with practicing lawyers, collection and systematization of source materials, compilation of research results, as well as planning and administration related to meetings, seminars, and conferences. The job responsibilities also include planning and execution of video productions and digital lectures.

A law degree and good knowledge of private international law are required for employment. The applicant should have knowledge and experience suitable for carefully, systematically, and independently compiling, reading, and analyzing complex source material, as well as being able to formulate academic texts using legal methodology. The applicant should also have a good ability to compile and present analytical results in writing.
The applicant should have an interest in legal and social science research, and it is advantageous if the applicant has experience in research within private international law. It is also advantageous if the applicant has experience working with digital media and the production of distance-based education. Since the job responsibilities are performed both collaboratively and independently, it is required that you have good collaborative skills, are self-sufficient, and have the ability to take initiative.
We place great emphasis on personal suitability. Good knowledge of both Swedish and English is a requirement.
Duration
The employment is temporary for the period starting from 2026-03-01 or by agreement for 1 year, with the possibility of extension. The extent is 20% of full-time.
Application Instructions
The application should include a CV, a personal letter summarizing the applicant's qualifications and experiences relevant to the position, and a self-authored longer text demonstrating the applicant's ability to write academic texts using legal methodology.
