Workplace Description

We are now seeking a postdoctoral researcher.

At the Department of Social Medicine and Global Health (SMGH), we work with global public health issues within education, research, and capacity development in collaboration with the global community. The operations are conducted in close cooperation with international organizations and partners through long-term and equitable collaborations, with ongoing projects in education, research, and capacity development in several countries in Africa and Asia. The operations are located at the Department of Clinical Sciences in Malmö and are led by Professor Anette Agardh. The department consists of researchers, teachers, statisticians, and administrative staff.

Job Responsibilities and Areas of Responsibility

Your job responsibilities will include:

  • The position aims to contribute to ongoing research and education in the field of sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), with a particular focus on teaching and capacity development.
  • The tasks include research and educational efforts focused on SRHR, including maternal and child health, gender-based and sexual violence, and the development of health care systems in Africa.
  • The position includes teaching at an advanced level, primarily in global health and SRHR, including teaching in the medical program and the master's program in public health.

Qualifications

Requirements for the position are:

  • PhD in public health with a research focus on sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR)
  • Medical degree with specialist training in obstetrics and/or gynecology
  • Documented experience in leading global capacity development or educational programs in sexual and reproductive health in low- and middle-income countries
  • Documented experience in teaching in global health as well as sexual and reproductive health and rights, including teaching in the medical program and master's programs

Meritorious for the position are:

  • Experience in policy-oriented work and in translating research into practice and decision-making
  • Documented international work experience, particularly in low- and middle-income countries

Other

The position is permanent with a scope of 10 percent, with a start date to be agreed upon. A probationary period may be applied.
