Job Responsibilities

The Public Transport Administration delivers and manages digital services that support both public and special public transport in Västmanland. Our digital solutions are managed and further developed within an object-based management model, in close collaboration between operations, IT functions, and external suppliers.

As a system administrator, you will work in the role of IT specialist in a technical ordering and management role. You are responsible for ensuring that our IT solutions function correctly, are used appropriately, and are developed in line with the needs of the organization. We do not have our own server or infrastructure operations; instead, development and operations mainly take place with our suppliers. Therefore, your role is central in dialogue, requirement setting, and follow-up with them.

The role is clearly user-oriented. You will work closely with the organization's employees and have an important task in meeting, listening to, and supporting users in how digital solutions are used, improved, and further developed. The work mainly takes place on-site, where your presence is central to building trust, understanding needs, and ensuring functioning solutions in everyday life.

The work includes both maintaining existing systems and participating in further development and changes. In some cases, simpler configuration, testing, or technical troubleshooting occurs internally. For our onboard and vehicle systems, we also have our own testing room where more practical work takes place.

It is of great importance that you not only understand the technology but also how technology, processes, and usage together create benefits and value for the organization and for the travelers.

The assignment as a system administrator includes, among other things:

  • working with technical system management and functioning as ordering support towards suppliers
  • following up on operations, deliveries, incidents, and change requests
  • participating in improvements and further development of existing systems
  • supporting and guiding the organization's employees in the use and development of digital solutions
  • participating in procurements, orders, and implementations together with colleagues
  • contributing to impact assessments as well as risk and vulnerability analyses
  • producing and adapting documentation and user support based on user needs
  • collaborating with object managers, IT specialists, and other roles within the administration

With us, you will have the opportunity for further education and development in your profession.

About the workplace

The workplace is located in modern and renovated premises just a stone's throw from the central station in Västerås. You will be employed by the Public Transport Administration within Region Västmanland. We are about 90 employees working with both public and special public transport.

You will belong to the IT and Digitalization Support unit, which has the task of providing robust and appropriate IT solutions and supporting the operations in their digitalization and development. The unit manages and develops the Public Transport Administration's digital services with the goal of facilitating travel in Västmanland, but also the everyday life of our colleagues.

We are a humble group with engaged and responsible employees who take joint responsibility for both the development of the organization and our work environment.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with technical competence and experience in system management or IT-related roles, preferably in an organization with multiple stakeholders and external suppliers.

You have:

  • experience working with IT systems in management, operations, or ordering roles
  • good ability to work in the intersection between technology and operations
  • experience translating operational needs into technical solutions in dialogue with suppliers
  • relevant education in the IT field, or other experience that the employer deems equivalent
  • good ability to communicate in Swedish and English, both orally and in writing

It is meritorious if you have:

  • experience from public transport, public sector, or other critical societal operations
  • experience in object management, PM3, or similar working methods
  • experience in procurement, supplier management, or technical requirement setting
  • a B driver's license (travel within the county may occur)

As a person, you are structured, solution-oriented, and responsible, with a clear user focus and a good ability to create trusting relationships. You enjoy working operationally and closely with the organization while also having the ability to see the bigger picture and plan your work accordingly. You are service-oriented, communicative, and actively contribute to a good collaborative climate.

We place great emphasis on your personal qualities.
