Object Manager at the Public Transport Administration

As an Object Manager with us, you will be welcomed to a workplace with the ambition to be at the forefront of digitalization, while we also value stability, quality, and long-term commitment. We are a humble team of engaged and responsible employees who together take responsibility for both the development of the operations and our shared work environment.

Job Responsibilities

The Public Transport Administration delivers digital services that support both public transport and special passenger transport. The services are managed and further developed within an object management model, in close collaboration between operations, IT functions, and external suppliers. As an object manager, you play a central role in governance, follow-up, and dialogue with suppliers. The administration is also responsible for portfolio management and project management related to digital development. We do not have our own operation of the infrastructure but act as a client and coordinator towards our suppliers and partners.

You will work with both maintenance and further development of the administration's digital solutions with a focus on digitalization, business development, and change management. The role requires an understanding of how digital solutions and processes together create benefits and value for the operations and for our passengers, rather than deep technical specialist competence. In your work, you will have support from IT specialists and other specialist roles responsible for the technical and detailed management of the IT solutions.

As an object manager, you have a tactical and strategic responsibility to plan, lead, and coordinate the work of the object together with the operations. The role includes both driving and supporting the operations in their development work, from early ideas to implemented solutions. This includes, among other things:

  • leading and coordinating the work of the object based on the needs and goals of the operations
  • supporting the operations in identifying, formulating, and structuring needs and ideas
  • initiating, preparing, and proposing priorities and reprioritizations within the object
  • contributing to the administration's portfolio management through prioritization and coordination of development initiatives
  • initiating and acting as a client for projects arising from the administration's needs
  • driving and following up development and change work from idea to implementation
  • following up activities and reporting status to the object steering group, clients, and other stakeholders
  • producing analyses, decision support documents, and recommendations

The role has its main focus on management and further development, but also includes that you:

  • collaborate with project management within the framework of the administration's project management
  • ensure clear handovers between management and projects
  • contribute to the overall balance between ongoing management, development, and projects

A central part of the role is supplier management and follow-up. This means that you:

  • are responsible for governance and ongoing dialogue with suppliers within the object
  • follow up deliveries, contracts, and commitments and ensure that agreed requirements are met
  • own and drive escalation cases in the event of deviations or the need for in-depth discussions regarding deliveries, contracts, and prices
  • prepare cases and escalations to the responsible manager when necessary

You keep yourself informed and updated within your area of responsibility through environmental monitoring and collaboration with other regions and actors. You contribute to holistic solutions and continuously work on development and improvements.

With us, you will have the opportunity for further education and development in your profession.

About the Workplace

The workplace is located in modern and renovated premises just a stone's throw from the central station in Västerås. You will be employed by the Public Transport Administration within Region Västmanland. Together, we are about 90 people working with both public and special passenger transport.

You will belong to the IT and Digitalization Support unit, which is tasked with providing robust and appropriate IT solutions and supporting the operations in their digitalization and development. The unit delivers and manages the Public Transport Administration's digital services with the goal of facilitating travel in Västmanland, as well as the work for our colleagues. Our work is characterized by a forward-looking attitude, collaboration, and continuous development of work methods and solutions.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with experience working with digitalization, business development, or change management in larger organizations with complex operational support. You have a relevant academic education in an appropriate field, or other experience and education that the employer considers equivalent.

We prefer that you have experience working according to the management model PM3 or a similar structured approach. Experience in supplier management, contract follow-up, and collaboration with external parties is meritorious, as is experience in project management. Experience from the public sector or the public transport industry is an advantage but not a requirement.

You have a good ability to work with analysis, prioritization, and the production of decision support documents, as well as a basic understanding of economic considerations. You are proficient in the Swedish language in both speech and writing and have good knowledge of English.

We see that you as a person have the ability to work both tactically and strategically. You are a solution-oriented team player who takes responsibility and plans and organizes your work in a structured manner. You understand your part in the whole and can adapt your work towards set goals. As a person, you are communicative, driven, and confident in dialogue with both operations and suppliers, and you have no problem leading meetings or presenting to both small and large groups.

Employment Conditions
