Job Responsibilities

A student assistant helps, supports, and stimulates students with special needs in their schoolwork, both individually and in group contexts, to create the best conditions for learning. You will work closely with the student, both during lessons and at breaks, and assist during transitions between different lessons.

You will support a student in self-care for diabetes (e.g., blood sugar checks, carbohydrate counting, insulin administration according to instructions). Observe and act in cases of high or low blood sugar, according to given guidelines. It is about creating security and structure around the student's day. Participate in planning activities where extra consideration is needed. You will collaborate closely with staff, guardians, and the diabetes clinic.

If you do not have training regarding diabetes, you will be offered to take a digital course on Type-1 diabetes.

In addition, participate in the daily work of the organization.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has experience working as a student assistant for students in need of special support.

It is an advantage if you:

• Are a trained student assistant and have experience working with students with diabetes
• Have training regarding diabetes

• You are responsible, calm, and stable and can use a low-arousal approach.
• You have good communication skills to convey, perceive, and meet individual needs.
• Good observational skills, concentration, and flexibility.
• Creating and maintaining trusting relationships over time is of great importance, which requires emotional control and an empathetic approach, often in stressful work situations.
