Fyrbodal Rescue Service is a strong and forward-looking rescue service association that stretches from the sea in the west to Lake Vänern in the east.

The association includes the seven municipalities of Färgelanda, Lysekil, Mellerud, Munkedal, Trollhättan, Uddevalla, and Vänersborg.

You will join a completely new rescue service that was established on January 1, 2025. Today, we have about 460 employees. Of these, about 60 work during the day and 110 in operational activities, distributed across three full-time stations, including the command center. Other staff consists of on-call rescue personnel (RiB), distributed across 14 part-time stations.

Training and Exercise Unit

The unit is part of the Rescue Department, which also includes operational full-time and part-time staff as well as technology. Through close collaboration with our full-time and part-time stations, team leaders, and other key personnel, the unit creates structures that ensure that staff knowledge is utilized in the best way across various subject areas.

The unit is responsible not only for coordinating and developing all training and exercise activities within Fyrbodal Rescue Service, but also has a clear mission to recognize, make visible, and further develop the competence that exists among our employees.

We currently have four employees with different operational responsibilities within both internal and external training, and we serve as a hub for competence development, knowledge sharing, and collaboration – both internally within the association and externally with our partners.

About the Position

We are looking for a structured operations manager with overall responsibility for planning, coordinating, and quality assuring our internal exercise activities. You will ensure that exercises for the full-time organization are professional, equivalent, and meet legal requirements such as the Swedish Work Environment Authority's regulations (AFS) and the Act on Protection Against Accidents (LSO). The role also includes planning external training initiatives and acting as a liaison with parties such as the County Administrative Board and the Armed Forces.

Your Main Responsibilities

  • Lead, plan, create synergies, and quality assure the exercise activities for our operational staff at all full-time stations.
  • Develop methods and routines to professionally measure and follow up results.
  • Maintain close dialogue with the unit manager, station managers, and team leaders to ensure needs-driven content and feedback on experiences.
  • Develop routines, methods, and documentation related to exercises, feedback on experiences, and learning within the organization.
  • Coordinate resources, instructors, and exercise locations at both the station and association level.
  • Actively contribute to the unit's collective work.
  • Drive development projects.

You will report to the unit manager for training and exercise.

A large part of the role involves developing collaborations with external actors. Therefore, you find it easy to make contacts and maintain professional relationships over time. Your ability to collaborate strengthens both our internal operations and the region's crisis preparedness.

We are looking for someone who enjoys collaboration and practical development and who translates needs into concrete exercises. As a person, you are confident, communicative, and contribute to a professional and engaged atmosphere. You take independent initiatives and steer work towards established goals while being responsive to the needs of the organization.

For applicants with qualifications in rescue management, we would like to see, based on personal conditions and suitability, that the position is combined with one of our operational functions on standby. In that case, a background check may be relevant.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • At least a high school education
  • At least 3 years of experience working in rescue services or similar
  • Good computer skills and confidence in working with digital systems
  • Good knowledge of Office 365, especially Excel, and experience working systematically with documentation
  • Good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing
  • Driver's license B

Desirable

  • SMO training or equivalent
  • Completed rescue management training such as LK1, LK2, or equivalent older MCF/MSB training
  • Operational experience from emergency response service within rescue services or similar
  • Experience in process management within strategic planning, development work, or quality management
  • Experience working with exercise planning, training, or instructor assignments
  • Experience working in municipal or regional collaboration, for example within rescue management systems or staff functions
  • Work in a supervisory position, preferably within operational or training-related activities

We will place great emphasis on your personal qualities.

Other

Your main placement will be at one of our full-time stations in Trollhättan, Vänersborg, or Uddevalla. You are expected to be able to work at all stations and be flexible in scheduling your working hours where the organization needs you. The position involves travel several times a week, primarily between the three full-time stations. At your main placement, a company car will be available.

Working hours are scheduled during the day, Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week, and are covered by our flexible working hours agreement. You will be offered two wellness hours per week that can be used for physical activity. You also have the opportunity to train in Fyrbodal's training facilities.

Interviews are planned to be conducted during week 10. At a later stage of the recruitment process, personality and logic tests will also be part of our overall assessment.

Within our organization, all employees are placed in wartime positions.
