Community Developer

The Social Administration Nordost works to provide residents in northeastern Gothenburg with equal and effective welfare, enabling them to live safe and independent lives. The administration provides support to individuals and families according to the Social Services Act. We also offer activities and meeting places that can provide children and young people with a meaningful leisure time. Additionally, the administration actively works with crisis support, safety issues, community life, public health, and contacts with residents and civil society.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Social Administration Nordost wants Gothenburg to be a city where residents engage and their engagement is valued. Civil society organizations contribute user and member perspectives, as well as experience, competence, and commitment to issues. Thus, these organizations strengthen the democratic process and contribute to increased participation and the development of a sustainable society.

The position as a community developer involves working with various forms of support and development work for associations and civil society in the Social Administration Nordost in the city of Gothenburg. You will work closely with the four other community developers who have this assignment. You will be part of a unit where our main focus is the development of public health work in Nordost.

As a community developer, you play a central role in facilitating and developing community life in the district through close collaboration with local actors. The assignment involves developing and supporting the local civil society in Nordost to strengthen it and make it sustainable in the long term. There is a lot of competence within the workgroup, where you will be an important actor with your experiences and knowledge regarding the challenges of civil society.

In this role, you will also handle grants for youth associations and collaborate with various organizations in the area. Additionally, managing various administrative systems and continuous budget follow-up are part of the responsibilities.

You will support and strengthen community life through regular contact and information regarding networks and financing issues. Furthermore, you will work to increase the number of active members and leaders within community life by supporting the associations in their development work.

In recent years, we have expanded our work with IOP (idea-driven and public partnerships), so we welcome candidates with experience in this approach.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone with a higher education relevant to the position, such as social pedagogy, social work, public administration, or public health science. It is required that you have good knowledge and experience of associations and their conditions. Since the work involves a significant amount of administration, it is important that you have good IT skills and knowledge of the Office package. Experience in economic work and the ability to independently handle cases is considered an asset. A driver's license (B) is desirable but not mandatory.

As a person, you are structured and responsible. You need to be attentive, open-minded, and flexible. You take responsibility for your own and the shared tasks and can set clear goals and plan activities and projects in good time. Good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written, is a requirement for the position. We also appreciate experience in multicultural collaborations.

Since you will be strengthening and developing the local community life through regular contact and information, it is important that you have good communication skills and can adapt your communication to the recipient, target group, and situation. It is also important that you have the ability to work collaboratively with others to perform tasks and achieve goals.

Some work may occur in the evenings and weekends. Selection and interviews may take place on an ongoing basis.
