Job Advertisement: Operations Leader at Uppsala Airport

F 16 is responsible for Uppsala garrison and the operation of Uppsala Airport. The squadron is also responsible for monitoring Swedish airspace around the clock, year-round, and leads the Air Force's combat aircraft in the air. You will be part of a military organization undergoing significant change and development due to the geopolitical situation and Sweden's NATO membership. About the Unit

1621. The Air Base Company is tasked with maintaining airport operations at Uppsala Airport. The company belongs to the 162nd Air Base Battalion at Uppland Air Wing. 6211. The SKYFFARB platoon belongs to the 1621 Air Base Company and performs the following tasks: Field maintenance service, Airport and base rescue service, training of conscripts, CBRN service, fieldwork service (munitions clearance).

We are looking for a new colleague for the airport rescue service at Uppsala Airport. The position is civilian with the title of Operations Leader at 6211. Protection Airfield Work Platoon (SKYFFARB).

Main Responsibilities

You will primarily act as an operations leader in the active rescue force, where you lead the rescue team in daily operations. In the event of an alarm, you lead the rescue effort in collaboration with other emergency services. You will also be involved in the planning and execution of periodic training within the framework of the platoon's rescue service. Together with the rescue chief, you will develop the capability for airport and base rescue within the combat unit. The position may involve training new firefighters, both the platoon's employees and conscript rescue soldiers. The position offers excellent opportunities for both basic and further training within the role, and it can be combined with specialization in areas such as CBRN.

If you lack military experience but are deemed suitable, this will be supplemented during your service as the position is within a combat unit. Work is normally conducted during daytime hours from Monday to Friday, but evening, night, and round-the-clock shifts as well as training activities may occur.

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

  • Swedish citizen
  • Good physical ability (equivalent to FMFysS level 2)
  • Approved operations leader training for airport rescue service or Rescue Leader A or B.
  • Driving license B

Personal Qualities

We are looking for someone who is focused, persistent, and skilled at collaborating with others. You should be driven and willing to participate in the development of the platoon and the rescue service within the combat unit. You are positive and see opportunities instead of problems. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability for the position.

MERITORIOUS

  • Trained military Operations Leader
  • Training on the Air Force's rescue vehicles
  • Knowledge or experience of military/civil airport rescue service
  • Experience in municipal rescue services
  • Conscription or other military experience

Other

Employment type: Permanent. The Armed Forces may apply a six-month probationary period.

Employment rate: Full-time

Work location: Uppsala. F 16 also operates in other locations, which may involve occasional business trips

Working hours: Mainly daytime. Evening and weekend work may occur during training activities. On-call duty may occur during active operations.

Start date: As soon as possible, by agreement

Uppland Air Wing, F 16, is headquartered at Uppsala garrison. The unit is part of the Swedish Air Force and is responsible for the operation and monitoring of Uppsala Airport as well as training conscripts in several different positions within the Air Force. The unit also leads the 161st Combat Control and Air Surveillance Battalion, which directs combat aircraft in the air and manages the constant monitoring of Swedish airspace. The unit operates from several locations in the country and is an important part of the growth period that the Air Force is facing.
