Description

The Urban Environment Administration has overall responsibility for the city's public spaces and collective accessibility.

We work to create accessible, attractive, and vibrant urban environments and natural areas. The administration owns and manages the tram network in Gothenburg. Approximately 900 people work in the administration.

The Urban Environment Administration is part of the urban development administrations in Gothenburg City. Together, we work to create conditions for a functioning infrastructure, quality housing and premises, an inviting public environment, and strive for the city to be sustainable from all perspectives.

Job Responsibilities

Do you want to help develop Gothenburg to create varied and sustainable living environments? The Urban Environment Administration currently has a position for you as a landscape architect with an interest in strategic planning combined with more action-oriented investigative work.

At the Park and Traffic Planning Unit, sixteen dedicated employees with various competencies in traffic planning, landscape architecture, building permit reviews, and art strategy work together. The unit has the strategic responsibility of the Urban Environment Administration and often serves as an interface with the City Planning Administration and other urban development actors. We also work with early investigations aimed at developing proposals for concrete measures to transform streets, parks, or squares. Our assignments primarily focus on enhancing the qualities of the already built city and do not include new detailed plans. In line with the unit's mission, the role of landscape architect is connected to both strategic work and the concrete design of places in existing urban environments.

The strategic mission involves phases that precede investments and can include area studies, development plans, in-depth needs analyses, and other strategic documents that provide direction for continued urban development. The work often occurs in close collaboration with other administrations and companies, where you contribute landscape architectural expertise and formulate positions in joint processes.

In addition to the strategic work, the role also includes preliminary studies for upcoming investments. In these assignments, the conditions and needs of the site are analyzed, measures are proposed, and conceptual design principles are developed as a basis for the city's future projects.

The role also includes contributing to organizational development, where you, together with colleagues, develop working methods, processes, and methods for the city's early planning phases.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a professional degree in landscape architecture (master's) or another equivalent education deemed relevant by the employer. You have at least five years of experience working as a landscape architect, and it is an advantage if you have worked within municipal operations or with a municipality as a client.

You have a good ability to work in early phases and, based on an analysis of the site, context, and goals, formulate directions and positions that can serve as a basis for continued planning. We also see that you have experience in planning and designing public environments.

We are looking for someone who is driven, creative, and has a strong commitment to their work. You need to have good collaboration and communication skills and be structured to succeed in the role.

Welcome with your application!

Conditions

We are currently renovating our workplace at Köpmansgatan 20, where all urban development administrations will be gathered. The new premises are expected to be completed in 2026 – until then, we are located at Postgatan 10.

With us, you will work in an administration focused on development, collaboration, and diversity. We offer, among other things, flexible working hours (with exceptions in certain departments), wellness grants, and cycling benefits - so you can combine an exciting job with a sustainable private life.

As an employer, we have an obligation to ensure that you have the right to reside and work in Sweden. Therefore, at a physical interview, you will need to show a passport or national ID card. Selection and interviews are ongoing, so do not wait with your application!
