There is something special about Avesta!
Here, you will find not only Dala horses and rushing streams, but also will and courage, proactivity, and faith in the future. It is the strength of the people that makes Avesta unique. Together, we are building the future of Avesta – do you want to be a part of it?
Do you want to lead the final phase of an important sustainability project and contribute to a more sustainable Avesta?
We are now looking for a project manager who wants to take over the baton and drive the Hållbart Avesta project forward during its remaining time. This is a meaningful assignment where you will have the opportunity to contribute to concrete change, work closely with both the organization and residents, and conclude an important project with clear results and lessons for the future.
Hållbart Avesta is a FORMAS-funded sustainability project that has been ongoing for some time, with several activities already established. Through neighborhood collaboration in By, Krylbo, and central Avesta, the project aims to reduce consumption-based emissions while increasing the quality of life for residents.
The project focuses on local and practical sustainability initiatives such as gardening, clothing swap days, carpooling, and reducing food waste – with the goal of inspiring long-term behavioral changes. As the project manager, you will be responsible for the remaining implementation and closure phase of the project. This means that you:
- Lead and coordinate ongoing activities
- Follow up, analyze, and evaluate completed efforts
- Develop and highlight good examples
- Work to disseminate results within the municipality and to citizens
- Be responsible for the project's final evaluation and reporting
The position is located at the municipal office's unit for quality and development, and you will report to the financial manager. Depending on the project's closing phase and reporting, the project employment may be extended by 1-2 months.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who has completed a university degree, preferably with a focus on sustainable development, communication, social sciences, or another equivalent education. You have previous professional experience working on projects and are confident in the role of project manager, with the ability to independently plan, structure, and drive the work forward.
You have a genuine interest and personal commitment to sustainability issues and are motivated to contribute to development in the field. It is an advantage if you have experience working in a politically governed organization as well as in communication and dialogue with citizens. If you have also led, planned, and implemented initiatives with a clear communication focus – both internally and externally – we see it as an asset.
We value experience in driving sustainability issues in complex organizations and are looking for a person who is self-driven, flexible, and resilient. You collaborate well with others, are relationship-building, and have a good ability to communicate clearly and engagingly in both small and large contexts. You have a natural conviction and the ability to inspire others to change.
