Do you want to work closely with hardware, solve complex low-level problems, and be a key player in the development of robust test environments for future products? Then this could be the role for you.

We are looking for an embedded systems developer on behalf of our client who wants to help develop software for internal test environments and HIL rigs. You will work with low-level programming in C, close to microcontrollers and electronics, and contribute to stable and deterministic software used by the development teams. The role involves both new development and further development of existing code, as well as systematic troubleshooting of complex hardware and software problems.

You will be part of a small, experienced team of 5 people with mixed seniority – from several years of experience to decades in the industry. The team consists of software developers with strong technical competence and works closely together. The work environment is unpretentious, technically focused, and collaborative. The team mainly works in the office in Södertälje 3-4 days a week.

• Develop embedded software in C (bare-metal)
• Design non-blocking, event-driven real-time systems
• Work closely with hardware: datasheets, reference manuals, registers, memory
• Develop and maintain software for test environments and HIL rigs
• Systematic troubleshooting of complex HW/SW problems
• Optimize code with respect to performance, resources, and energy consumption
• Review, improve, and refactor existing code
• Document solutions clearly and structurally

• Has a bachelor's or master's degree in embedded systems or equivalent
• Has at least two years of work experience in software development for embedded systems, primarily in C
• Has experience with bare-metal and real-time critical systems
• Is familiar with ARM Cortex-M architecture, interrupts, timers, watchdogs, and memory management
• Has an understanding of build systems, link scripts, and memory maps
• Speaks and writes fluent English

Meritorious:

• Experience with Ethernet (OSI layers 1–4)
• CAN, RTOS, Bootloaders, and firmware updates
• Assembler
• ISO 26262
• CI and version control (Git)
• Basic electrical engineering and experience using oscilloscopes
• Experience with debugging using JTAG/SWD
• Experience with communication interfaces such as SPI, RS485, USB
• Ability to write robust, testable, and deterministic code (e.g., MISRA C)
