Our Strengths

Our strengths are humility, dialogue, and short decision-making paths. As an employee with us, you will become an important community builder, someone who makes a difference. We are convinced that together we can live up to our values where welcoming, engagement, security, and hope for the future are key principles. Smedjebacken offers good housing, and our many associations, passionate individuals, and entrepreneurs contribute to quality of life, cohesion, and vibrant traditions throughout the municipality.

Individual and Family Care

The Individual and Family Care in Smedjebacken consists of three units: children and family, adults, and administration, with a total of 25 employees. The operation is led by a manager, and the units for adults and children and family are led by unit managers. In both groups, there are social workers and staff working with outpatient care in various forms as well as family support/family treatment.

We are now looking for two social workers for the children and family unit. The unit consists of a unit manager, a senior officer, and four social workers, where the functions of reception, investigation, follow-up of interventions, foster homes, and family law are included, as well as three therapists. We are a small municipality and a small social office. We help each other, and tasks are shared as needed. The social workers in the children and family unit work with children and youth from 0 to 21 years regarding authority exercise based on the Social Services Act, the Act on Care with Special Provisions for the Care of Young People, and the Act on Young Offenders. The unit also investigates foster homes, contact families, and contact persons and handles family law matters.

Job Responsibilities

As a social worker, your responsibilities will include:

  • Having close cooperation with key individuals in the child's network, focusing on ensuring that the child has a good and safe environment.
  • Contacting and coordinating various networks around the child, such as schools and BUP.
  • Being knowledgeable about the unit's reception function and family law.

The role will range from authority exercise to also include treatment interventions based on the new Social Services Act.

Since we are a small social office, as a social worker, you will follow the case from the incoming report/application, investigation, to any implementation and follow-up of this. Other tasks may also occur, and the content and conditions of the work may change over time.

We are a unit that appreciates flexibility and humility, and our work is characterized by systemic thinking and solution-oriented interventions. It is natural for us to collaborate with others within the unit and other actors relevant to the family, and our goal is to work to find solutions that work. We work with everything from preventive open interventions, conversations at our reception to extensive home-based interventions.

Network meetings occur, and you may lead various group activities; evening work may also occur.

Documentation obligation according to applicable legislation.

Selection and interviews are conducted continuously.

Qualifications

  • Degree in social work or other higher education in a relevant field deemed equivalent by the employer.
  • The role includes documentation and conversations, so you need to have a good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both orally and in writing.
  • You should be well acquainted with the administrative requirements and the legislation that governs the operation.
  • You need to have good computer skills.
  • Since travel is involved in the job, a B driver's license is required.
  • It is advantageous if you have previous knowledge of the operational system Lifecare and if you have previously worked with social work or authority exercise.

Personal Qualities

To thrive in the role of social worker, we believe you have:

  • A strong commitment and interest in social work.
  • The courage to make a difference for vulnerable people in society.
  • A drive and creativity that contributes to the unit's development.
  • The ability to collaborate easily with others and also work independently.
  • You are social and have the ability to bring enthusiasm and contribute to participation and consensus around the operation.
  • Since the job involves many contact points, it is important that you have the ability to nurture and build good relationships.
  • Skills such as communication, responsibility, and humble collaboration are important to us, as well as a good attitude. Personal suitability is highly valued.
