The Urban Development Office is looking for an engaged and forward-thinking urban planner who wants to help create an attractive and sustainable urban development in Kungsbacka.

Kungsbacka is an expanding municipality with a strong belief in the future and many exciting urban development projects underway. Strategic urban development is part of the Urban Development Office, directly under the Municipal Executive Board, which gives the department a broad and far-reaching mandate to drive urban development forward. We are 11 colleagues working together, focusing on driving urban development issues within physical planning and sustainability. You will support the administration in questions and processes related to strategic and comprehensive urban planning. You will also play an active role in the administration's development and innovation work. We are looking for someone who can function at the intersection of urban development and process development.

The role of urban planner with us

In the role of urban planner with us, you will often handle complex issues where we are breaking new ground in, among other things, an uninterrupted digital urban planning process. The assignments vary in nature; in some cases, you will be the driving force behind a project, but you may also support and coach the department's specialists and operations in other administrations.

You will actively contribute to the exciting work of creating strategic foresight in physical planning. In this role, you will spend time implementing our comprehensive plan and working to facilitate continued planning in the interface between the comprehensive plan and detailed plan. Initially, you will contribute knowledge, engagement, and structure within cross-administrative projects in physical planning where we want to make our processes accessible and digitalized to work more efficiently. The role includes preparing matters and referrals to our political committee, the municipal executive board.

You are a generalist with a holistic view and good analytical skills. You have the competence to work at a strategic, comprehensive level with complex issues, both independently and in teams. You have a strong ability to advance issues and achieve results even when there are many anchoring points and long time perspectives. In a natural and obvious way, you create a good dialogue with political representatives and find your way in the interface between profession and politics.

As a person, you are curious, unpretentious, and enjoy working collaboratively with others. You easily create new contacts and find networks that facilitate work. You express yourself well in both speech and writing. You feel inspired by the administration's mission to lead, govern, and coordinate.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

We are looking for someone who has:

• experience working with development and change processes involving complex issues
• education or experience in project management
• post-secondary education along with work experience that the employer deems relevant

It is meritorious:

• experience working with data analysis, geodata, and/or statistics, preferably in an urban development context
• experience working with comprehensive strategic municipal or regional planning
• experience working within a politically governed organization

You belong to the department of Strategic Urban Development, which is responsible for coordinating and governing the municipality's sustainability work as well as comprehensive and strategic urban planning. We are a dynamic team with various areas of expertise where our goal is to make each other better through mutual learning and creative thinking. We are centrally located in the city hall and work activity-based, which gives us a lot of flexibility to adapt our work environment to the task. As part of the municipal executive board's administration, the Urban Development Office, together with the municipal management office, is tasked with leading, developing, and coordinating. Here we take responsibility for strategic issues affecting the entire municipality. It involves questions and challenges arising from the municipal management group or the municipal executive board. We lead and coordinate the work from start to finish, together with colleagues from the administrations.
