IT Security Officer

Eskilstuna Municipality is seeking a knowledgeable IT Security Officer who wants to help strengthen our ability to monitor, manage, and respond to security incidents. The position is located in the Operations and Support unit, where we have a total of about 55 employees. You will work closely with the operations team, consisting of around 25 colleagues with broad and deep expertise in IT.

RESPONSIBILITIES

In the role of IT Security Officer, you will work to strengthen and further develop Eskilstuna Municipality's IT security. You will be responsible for leading and further developing the work with the municipality's SIEM tool, which is used to collect, analyze, and follow up on security-related information from our IT environments.

A central part of the assignment is incident management, where you investigate, document, and handle security incidents and implement measures to limit and minimize the impact on operations. Through continuous analysis and evaluation of security data, you contribute to early identification of threats and ensure a quick and structured response to incidents.

You will also work on evaluating and optimizing the use of Microsoft Defender and other security solutions to ensure robust protection. The role includes automating security measures where possible and continuously monitoring new threats, trends, and technologies to maintain a high and current security level.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone with at least a post-secondary education focused on, for example, networks, data communication, or system science. Alternatively, you have acquired equivalent knowledge through work experience that we assess as equivalent. You have several years of documented professional experience relevant to the role.

You have experience working with SIEM tools and Microsoft Defender, or equivalent knowledge in the field. You have a good understanding of network security and are accustomed to working with vulnerabilities and various types of attacks. You can investigate, analyze, and interpret security data and take action in real-time when needed.

You have a clear interest and commitment to information and IT security and work in a structured and solution-oriented manner. You have experience working according to ITIL and communicate well in both Swedish and English, in both speech and writing. The role requires a B driver's license, as well as good collaboration skills and the ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical parties. You are self-driven and have a proactive approach to preventing and solving security challenges.

It is an advantage if you have education or certifications in IT security. We also view positively if you have knowledge and experience of security technologies such as PKI, identity and access management (IAM), encryption, and security in network and server environments, clients, and cloud services. Experience in IT security work within the public sector is also an advantage.
