School Nurse at Fristadsskolan

Do you want to contribute to students' health in the role of a school nurse? Here is your chance to try the role for a year as a substitute for our current school nurse.

Fristadsskolan is a secondary school located in the center of Eskilstuna with approximately 470 students and 60 staff members. The school has been newly renovated, and we have recently moved into our new fresh premises. Quality in education is our focus. Our full-time mentors work with student social issues and contribute to our efforts for safety and study peace. We also work with MVP, a program that focuses on values and violence prevention. Our structures for collegial cooperation are well established, and there is a culture at the school of doing things together and helping each other.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a school nurse, you will meet all our students through open reception, as well as through health visits for students in grade 7 and vaccinations for students in grade 8. You will have a yearly schedule of activities to follow. You will participate in the school's student health team, which also includes our counselor and school psychologist. You will collaborate with other professionals at the school and have joint efforts. Sometimes you will meet other external actors at student meetings concerning issues such as absenteeism. As a school nurse, you play an important role in preventive and promoting work.

As a newcomer, you will receive orientation and training from a school nurse colleague and have support from the Medical Student Health team. You will have opportunities for knowledge exchange and contact with other school nurses through the network group you belong to. You will also participate in joint professional development organized by the Medical Student Health team, and there is an opportunity for group supervision together with school nurse colleagues at other schools.

QUALIFICATIONS

You are a registered nurse with further education as a school nurse/school health care, district nurse, or health care for children/youth. It is an advantage if you have experience working with children/youth, preferably in the role of a school nurse.

You have an understanding of our students' differences and the ability to meet them based on their situation and personality. You can independently take responsibility for your planning and areas of responsibility. We also value that you have good collaboration skills with the various functions of the organization to offer students the best possible support.
