JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The duty officer, in consultation with the prison inspector, is responsible for security and leads and distributes the daily operations. The duty officer represents the employer and guarantees that the management line is maintained all the way out to all staff. The work is varied and often fast-paced. The duty officer is on duty around the clock and, outside office hours, is the highest local operational decision-maker. As a duty officer at Trelleborg Remand Facility, the working hours are generally scheduled Monday to Sunday during the day, as the duty officer at Malmö Remand Facility is also responsible for Trelleborg's operations at night. This may change if the needs of the operations require it. As a duty officer, you have a clear employer role, and the tasks require a professional and close collaboration with all positions within the operational area. Some of the tasks included in the position are:

  • Admissions and releases
  • Delivery of verdicts
  • Drafting various types of decisions
  • Conducting security assessments
  • Operationally leading the daily security work such as conducting searches, holding interrogations, performing drug tests, and taking action as needed.
  • Transport planning
  • Responsible for short-term ranking of staff, i.e., acute staffing events

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who is structured and stable but also has the ability to adapt to changing circumstances. You have excellent collaboration skills and relate to people in a sensitive and smooth manner. In your professional practice, you demonstrate good judgment and resolve conflicts constructively. You have the ability to overview and see the operations from a holistic perspective. In the role of duty officer, you act professionally in collaboration with internal and external authorities.

You are also aware of and understand how background, culture, and group affiliation affect yourself and others. Furthermore, you are expected to contribute to ensuring that everyone is treated equally. As a duty officer, you have an important role in the operations, and great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Completed upper secondary education or other education combined with work experience that the Swedish Prison and Probation Service deems relevant
  • The Swedish Prison and Probation Service's basic training
  • Several years of work experience in client-facing roles within the Swedish Prison and Probation Service
  • Experience as a duty officer
  • Good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written
  • Driver's license (B)

It is advantageous to have:

  • Completed the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's training in Incident Management for duty officers
  • Experience as a duty officer
  • Experience in operational security work
  • Familiarity with the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's administrative support programs
  • Good knowledge of English, both spoken and written
  • Experience handling phone and visitation permits within the Swedish Prison and Probation Service
