ABOUT THE ASSIGNMENT

As the project manager for DOIT, you belong to the Sweden program and our regional office in Norrköping and Team Östergötland and Sörmland, ÖS. The DOIT activities will be conducted on-site in Norrköping, in collaboration with Save the Children's local association in Norrköping, and schools or youth centers in the municipality of Norrköping. The team consists of, among others, Operations Developers, Activity Leaders linked to the project, Group Managers, and other colleagues/Project Managers conducting DOIT in nearby municipalities.

According to the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, every child has the right to play and leisure. Therefore, Save the Children's vision is that no child should be excluded because the family cannot afford to pay fees or provide equipment. The goal is to create a platform through strategic and operational collaborations with other local actors to provide access to recreational, leisure, and sports activities.

On behalf of Save the Children's local association in Norrköping, we are now starting our DOIT activities in Norrköping. Activities for children will be held every week, combined with strategic work to promote the possibility of an active association life for children in the area. The plan is to start operations in a prioritized area during 2026.

As a project manager, you are responsible for:

  • creating and promoting conditions for operational and strategic collaborations with relevant associations and local actors

  • planning, organizing, and implementing direct support activities for children and young people every week

  • reporting continuously on the project's progress and implementation to the responsible manager/project commissioner/steering group

  • planning and conducting training for young leaders/activity leaders

  • collaborating with Save the Children's local association and other team members

  • actively participating in operations every week and contributing to the development of the activities and the work to reach the children who are farthest from having a safe and meaningful leisure time

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

To succeed in this role, we see that you, as an applicant, have the following qualifications:

  • Relevant academic education / equivalent experience obtained in another way

  • Previous experience in professional operational process management and project management

  • Good ability in both planning and implementation

  • Experience in professional or voluntary engagement with children

  • Clear interest in contributing to Save the Children's overall goals of ensuring that children in socioeconomically disadvantaged areas have their rights to health, education, and development met, and that no child should be discriminated against

  • Good knowledge of the Convention on the Rights of the Child and work based on human rights

  • Local anchoring in Norrköping, and good knowledge and anchoring with the local civil society, schools, and leisure for children and young people.

  • Good Swedish and English in speech and writing

  • Good digital skills in Office and Exchange

If you also have the following, we see it as meritorious:

  • Experience of work or engagement in civil society and innovative working methods

  • Experience in leading and an interest in leisure activities, sports, and play, being responsive and enjoying collaborating with both children and adults

  • Well-established network in the municipality

  • Good knowledge of associations/voluntary work

  • Language skills in other languages such as Persian, Dari, Somali, Tigrinya, and/or Arabic.

As a person, you have an unpretentious approach in your collaboration with others and act as part of the team, including others. You have the ability to see what needs to be prioritized, are efficient, and use resources to achieve results in the best way. Furthermore, you are curious and creative and have the ability to think outside the box and find simple solutions to emerging problems. Additionally, you have the ability to work based on the organization's goals and prioritize actions that have the greatest impact and take responsibility for achieving the goals. You should also be able to inspire and engage other actors to contribute to a better situation for children and young people in Norrköping.
