Röda Korsets folkhögskola (https://rodakorsetsfolkhogskola.se) is part of the Swedish Red Cross. The school is located in Skärholmen to meet the educational needs that exist primarily locally. We educate about 170 participants per year. Through our folk high school activities, we contribute to the Swedish Red Cross's vision of a humane Sweden in a sustainable world. In addition to folk high school activities, we want to develop local collaboration to a greater extent to strengthen the local community through cooperation and activities that respond to the needs of the local community. We want to develop our position as "a school in the village." Röda Korsets folkhögskola is based on the fundamental principles of the Red Cross, which means that human rights and equal value for all permeate all courses at the school.

We are now looking for a care teacher

We are now looking for a care teacher who wants to teach in our newly started education that prepares participants for work in elderly care. The course is designed together with the home care service in Skärholmen, and participants will be offered summer jobs in their operations and then full-time employment combined with continued studies. The school has a close collaboration with the Skärholmen district administration, and we plan to further deepen the design of care-oriented courses in collaboration.

Over the next three years, we will work on an ESF project (European Social Fund) to contribute to the supply of skills in healthcare. This means that course participants will be employed in home care at 100% and work 50% while studying 50%.

The course is aimed at people with Swedish as a second language

The course is aimed at people who have Swedish as a second language, and we wish that you have experience teaching this target group. You will be responsible for the participants' learning and development together with the teaching team. We are looking for someone who is committed and wants to help develop the course together with us and local actors in care and welfare.

About the position

The position will require a high degree of flexibility as well as the ability to collaborate with managers and other employees within home care. The position also means that you will work "on the floor" together with course participants and already employed staff within home care to lead workplace-based learning. You will be both a colleague, teacher, and supervisor at the same time.

We already have one care teacher at 100% and now want to expand with another care teacher who also has experience teaching vocational Swedish and preferably also has academic qualifications in Swedish and/or Swedish as a second language. However, it is crucial that you have experience working in this operationally close way and have a care teacher degree.

How we recruit

The Swedish Red Cross strives to be an inclusive organization with employees who contribute to diversity in both perspectives, experience, and background. We believe this makes us more relevant. Therefore, we are happy to recruit people with different ethnic and social backgrounds, gender identities and expressions, beliefs, ages, disabilities, and sexual orientations.

Our recruitment process starts with an initial selection based on an established requirement profile and is followed by interviews and, in some cases, online tests as well as background checks and reference checks.

As the Swedish Red Cross is part of the "Inter-Agency Scheme for the Disclosure of Safeguarding-related Misconduct" to protect our sector from sexual abuse, we ask specific questions about this to your references. Final candidates may also be screened against EU and UN sanction lists.

Please visit our career page to get to know the Swedish Red Cross a little better. Here you will also find information about terms, our culture, and contact details for the trade unions represented with us.

We kindly ask for no calls from salespeople offering recruitment-related services.
