Job Advertisement: Social Welfare Officer in Elderly Care

Stockholm – our capital city with millions of dreams, expectations, and ambitions. We work for everyone living here today and in the future. Now we are looking for you who want to think big, new, and differently with us – for the people of Stockholm.

Do you want to make a difference in the everyday lives of Stockholmers and work in an exciting and growing district? With us, you will develop and grow with the task. We work to find new innovative methods for healthy and meaningful aging. To support this, we have an innovation center with advanced welfare technology in healthcare and social services. Together, we work to be a district in a safe city to grow up, live, and age in.

Your Role

Are you motivated by finding solutions for each individual? As a social welfare officer in elderly care, you meet different kinds of people with many life stories and experiences in the target group aged 65 and older.

We are now strengthening our team with a permanent position and a full-time substitute. The duration of the substitute position is approximately 9-12 months.

About Us

The Elderly Unit consists of 39 employees, including social welfare officers, method developers, operational controllers, finance staff, and managers. Here, men and women of various ages and experiences work together. With us, you will have wonderful colleagues who enjoy their work. We help each other and care about a good working environment. We have a purposeful organizational structure where the majority of social welfare officers have clear case responsibilities based on geographical divisions. We have a group of three social welfare officers, without their own case responsibilities, who provide support during absences and peak workloads. There is also a group of social welfare officers responsible for the financial processes related to case management.

Our office is located in the Slakthus area, near Globen.

Your Competence and Experience

We are looking for someone who has a degree in social work or another higher education that is deemed equivalent by the employer, has experience in authority exercise, for example as a social welfare officer or social worker, and speaks and writes Swedish fluently. This is important for documentation, communication, collaboration with colleagues in the city, and external partners.

It is an advantage if you have experience from Stockholm City's umbrella system and experience in authority exercise towards the elderly target group.

We are looking for someone who is relationship-building and has a good ability to establish contact with people in vulnerable situations. As social welfare officers often meet people in crisis and with complex life situations, it is important that you can see opportunities, convey hope, and meet people in a respectful and professional manner. You also demonstrate good collaboration skills, are attentive, and enjoy collaborating with other professionals, always with the individual in focus. As a social welfare officer, you work independently and in a structured manner by planning, organizing, and prioritizing your work. You are flexible and can easily adapt when the work requires it.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability, motivation, and commitment to the position.

Other

You will receive an introductory plan and a mentor as a new employee with us. We recruit without a personal letter in this recruitment to strengthen the focus on the competencies and experiences required for this role. In assessing your application, we will only consider your CV and a number of questions you will answer when applying for the position. We ask that you respond concretely and briefly to the questions, and that there is a clear connection between your answers and your CV.

In this recruitment, selection will be ongoing. Welcome with your application! The City of Stockholm works with competence-based recruitment aimed at recognizing each person's skills and thus counteracting discrimination.

Enskede Årsta Vantör is one of 11 district administrations in the City of Stockholm. As part of the City of Stockholm, the administration offers preschool and leisure, care for the elderly and disabled, social services, preventive and safety-promoting work, urban development, and park maintenance to our 105,000 Stockholmers living in the district. We face exciting challenges as the Enskede Årsta Vantör district grows and entirely new neighborhoods are built. Approximately 18,000 new apartments are planned by 2030.
